Highlighting a recent publication by one of our registrars, Riona Sing-Gansan, together with our Lipidology team. This letter to the editor in The Journal of Applied Laboratory Medicine highlights an atypical presentation of Lipoprotein X (LpX) on agarose gel electrophoresis in a cholestatic patient with severe hypercholesterolemia. This case underscores the diagnostic value of nondenaturing polyacrylamide gradient gel electrophoresis in identifying LpX and the pitfalls of LDL cholesterol estimation in such settings.
