Renier is a registered counsellor (RC) with experience in trauma, addiction, depression, anxiety, grief and psychosis. He is registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa, as well as the Board of Healthcare Funders. As a RC, Renier is not able to diagnose but can provide the following:
- Screening for psychopathology (and refer where necessary).
- Prevent and promote through preve

ntative and developmental counselling and interventions.
- Contain presenting difficulties.
- Support to assist in the restoration of more adaptive functioning.
- Intervene (eg, alleviation of distresss).
- Promote psychosocial wellbeing. RC's are able to perform psychological screening, basic assessment and
psychological interventions with individuals and groups, aimed at enhancing personal functioning. Their function is to prevent, promote, intervene, and appropriately refer. Renier works with pre - teens, teenagers and adults. His therapeutic approach includes Cognitive - and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
