The short answer? Absolutely.

Omega-3 is one of the most extensively researched nutrients in the world, with decades of evidence supporting its role in brain, heart and overall health. In fact, research from Harvard University identified low dietary omega-3 intake as one of the top 6 preventable causes of death.

One finding that particularly caught researchers' attention was that low blood omega-3 levels were associated with a reduction in life expectancy comparable to smoking. In the same study, people with a higher Omega-3 Index were estimated to live around five years longer than those with very low levels.

Even more striking? It's estimated that approx. 98% of adults have suboptimal omega-3 levels.

Maintaining healthy omega-3 levels through regular consumption or, where appropriate, a quality supplement, may be one of the simplest, most affordable investments you can make in your health ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿ’Š

What if one of the best workouts for your brain isn't a puzzle... but learning another language? ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ’ฌ

One of the most exciting neuroscience findings of 2026 found that people who spoke multiple languages showed brain connectivity patterns that appeared years younger than their chronological age.

The strongest associations were seen in those who:
โœจ Started learning earlier
โœจ Were more fluent
โœจ Spoke more than two languages

The research is still emerging, and scientists can't yet say that learning another language directly causes a younger-looking brain - other lifestyle factors may also contribute. However, it adds to growing evidence that challenging your brain through language may support long-term brain health.

Learning a language isn't just about communication - it's also a workout for your brain!

Parenting can easily become a list of things to manage - meals, routines, homework, bedtimes, appointments...

But somewhere in the busyness, it's easy to forget one of the most important ingredients: Joy.

The moments your child will remember probably won't be the perfect routines.
Or the spotless house. Or the colour-coded lunchbox.
They'll remember how it felt to be with you.

The giggles over dinner | The made-up games | The cuddles before bed
The moments when they felt seen, safe and simply enjoyed ๐Ÿ’›

Every week, we unpack what the best available neuroscience research actually tells us - translating complex science into practical, evidence-based insights.

This week's question:

The short answer: It might - but not in the way many people think.

Creatine plays an important role in brain energy metabolism and is one of the most promising supplements being studied for cognitive health. Current evidence suggests it may be particularly beneficial when the brain is under increased energy demands (such as sleep deprivation, ageing, or certain neurological conditions), while benefits for healthy, well-rested adults are less consistent.

๐Ÿ“š Research spotlight: This post is based on current evidence, including recent systematic reviews and meta-analyses investigating creatine and cognitive function, as well as the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN) Position Stand on Creatine.

๐—–๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ฒ: I lose things all the time.

Many of us assume this is a memory problem. Often, it isn't.

When you're putting something down, your brain is already focused on the next task. If your attention isn't fully on where you're placing it, it doesn't create a strong memory to retrieve later.

Instead of trying to remember better, rely on your environment more.

Choose one permanent home for the things you use every day - your keys, wallet, glasses, headphones or phone. The fewer places your brain has to search, the less mental effort it takes to find them.

Your brain is great at recognising patterns. Give it consistent ones to work with.

If your child constantly interrupts, try teaching them to quietly place a hand on your arm, shoulder, or knee when they need your attention.

Without stopping your conversation, place your hand over theirs to let them know: I see you. You're next.

When you're finished, turn to them and give them your full attention.

This simple strategy helps children practise waiting while knowing they haven't been forgotten. A small change that helps children learn how to join conversations successfully.
