Peptides are everywhere right now, from weight loss clinics and performance optimization circles to longevity podcasts and social media influencers. But how much of the excitement is backed by science, and how much is hype?

In Episode 37 of the Innersight Podcast, we take an evidence-based look at one of the most talked-about topics in modern health.

We explore:
✅ What peptides are and how they work
✅ The game-changing impact of GLP-1 medications on obesity and metabolic health
✅ Recovery peptides like BPC-157 and TB-500
✅ Muscle growth, performance and energy-enhancing compounds
✅ Emerging therapies such as MOTS-c and mitochondrial health
✅ The risks of unregulated and black-market peptides

While some peptides are already transforming healthcare, many others remain promising but largely unproven. This conversation cuts through the marketing noise to examine what the science actually says.

If you're interested in longevity, performance, recovery or simply understanding the peptide landscape, this episode offers a balanced perspective on the opportunities, limitations and risks.

Many people think bleeding gums are normal, but they’re actually one of the earliest warning signs of gingivitis. The good news is that with the right habits, you can stop gum disease in its tracks before it progresses.

In this clip from Episode 28 of the Innersight Podcast, Dr. Lochner explains:
✅ Why gums bleed and what it means
✅ How plaque and harmful bacteria trigger inflammation
✅ The correct way to brush along the gum line
✅ Why flossing is about much more than removing food
✅ The truth about gum recession and "brushing too hard"
✅ When an electric toothbrush may help improve your oral health

Preventing and reversing early gum disease doesn't require expensive products or complicated routines. Consistent brushing, proper flossing and regular professional cleanings can make a significant difference to your long-term oral health.

If you've ever experienced bleeding gums, wondered whether you're brushing correctly or wanted to understand what dentists recommend for healthy gums, this episode is packed with practical advice.

Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic autoimmune disease affecting the central nervous system, where the immune system attacks the protective covering of nerves (myelin), disrupting communication between the brain and body.

MS affects an estimated 2.9 million people worldwide, with most diagnoses occurring between ages 20–40, and women affected approximately 2–3 times more often than men.

Symptoms can vary widely and may include:
🔹Fatigue
🔹Blurred or double vision
🔹Numbness or tingling
🔹Muscle weakness or difficulty walking
🔹Balance and coordination problems
🔹Cognitive changes and brain fog

While there is currently no cure for MS, advances in treatment continue to improve outcomes and quality of life.

Management options may include:

➡️ Disease-modifying therapies (DMTs)
➡️ Physiotherapy and rehabilitation
➡️ Corticosteroids for relapses
➡️ Physiotherapy and rehabilitation
➡️ Occupational and speech therapy
➡️ Mental health and lifestyle support

This World MS Day, we stand with patients, caregivers, clinicians and advocates worldwide to raise awareness, reduce diagnostic delays and promote equitable access to care.

Together, we can help ensure that no one navigates MS alone.

Getting older is a privilege, but losing strength, energy, mobility and vitality doesn’t have to be accepted as “normal”.

Modern preventative healthcare is shifting the conversation from simply treating disease to actively protecting longevity and quality of life. The choices we make today shape how we age tomorrow.

The future of healthcare is proactive, personalised and preventative:
✅ Detect risks earlier
✅ Optimize metabolic health
✅ Preserve cognitive function
✅ Maintain muscle, mobility and independence
✅ Support healthy aging from the inside out

We cannot stop the clock, but we can influence how we experience the journey.

Healthy aging is not about perfection. It’s about investing consistently in the future version of yourself.

Red light therapy (often called low-level light therapy or photobiomodulation) is gaining attention as a non-invasive option that may help support recovery and reduce discomfort in a range of musculoskeletal conditions.

Research suggests it may be beneficial for:

✅ Knee osteoarthritis
May help reduce pain and stiffness, and support improved joint function when used consistently alongside exercise and rehab.

✅ Tendinopathies
May assist with reducing pain and supporting tissue healing processes over time in tendiopathies such as Achilles or lateral elbow.

✅ Musculoskeletal pain
Including muscle strains and general overuse discomfort, where it may help modulate inflammation and pain sensitivity.

✅ Muscle recovery and exercise performance

Some evidence suggests it can support:
🔹 Reduced post-exercise soreness
🔹 Faster recovery between training sessions
🔹 Improved muscle performance in certain contexts

Red light therapy is not a cure and it works best alongside strength training, load management, physiotherapy and appropriate medical care where needed.

Most people think gum disease is obvious, but in reality, it often progresses quietly until the damage is already done.

In this clip from Episode 28 of the Innersight Podcast, Dr. Lochner explains how dentists actually detect hidden gum disease and why routine check-ups alone may not always be enough to catch it early.

The key lies in periodontal probing, a simple but powerful way to measure the health of the gums beneath the surface.

Here’s what you need to know:

☑️ Gingivitis vs Periodontitis
Gingivitis is the early, reversible stage of gum disease. Periodontitis is the advanced stage where bone and tissue loss can become permanent.

☑️ Healthy gums aren’t just "not sore"
Normal periodontal pockets measure 1–3 mm with minimal or no bleeding.

☑️ Bleeding gums are a warning sign, not normal
Even mild bleeding can signal underlying inflammation.

☑️ Deep pockets = hidden damage
When pockets deepen beyond 3 mm, it can indicate progressing periodontitis and bone loss.

☑️ Full-mouth probing matters
Examining all teeth is critical; partial checks can miss early disease entirely.

The key takeaway? Gum disease doesn’t always hurt, but it does always progress if it’s not detected early.

Early identification can be the difference between simple treatment and long-term tooth loss.

If this helped clarify something for you, share it with someone who still thinks bleeding gums are “normal.”

Red Light Therapy (Photobiomodulation/PBM) is emerging as a powerful supportive tool for wound healing and tissue repair, with growing clinical research showing promising results across multiple areas of recovery.

Research suggests red and near-infrared light may help:
🔴 Reduce inflammation
🔴 Accelerate tissue repair
🔴 Support collagen production
🔴 Encourage cellular healing
🔴 Promote skin rejuvenation
🔴 Provide anti-aging effects

While red light therapy is not a replacement for proper medical treatment, the growing body of evidence suggests it may be a valuable complementary tool for supporting healing and recovery when used appropriately.

Today, on World IBD Day, we raise awareness for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and the millions of people living with it.

IBD is an umbrella term for chronic, immune-mediated conditions that cause ongoing inflammation in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. The two main types are Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative colitis, and whilst they share similarities, they affect the gut in different ways.

Crohn’s disease can affect any part of the GI tract, with inflammation often occuring in “patches” that can extend through deeper layers of the bowel wall. This can sometimes lead to complications such as strictures, fistulas and abscesses.

Ulcerative colitis affects only the large intestine and re**um; the inflammation is continuous and limited to the innermost lining of the bowel, often starting in the re**um and extending upward.

Common symptoms of IBD include persistent diarrhoea, abdominal pain, fatigue, unintended weight loss and sometimes blood in the stool. Symptoms can vary in severity and often occur in cycles of flares and remission.

IBD is a lifelong condition, but with appropriate treatment, including anti-inflammatory medication, immune-modifying therapies, biologics, nutritional support and sometimes surgery, many people can achieve remission and live full, active lives.

Beyond the physical symptoms, IBD can also significantly affect mental health, daily functioning and quality of life.

On this day, we recognise the importance of early diagnosis, improved access to treatment, ongoing research and stronger support systems for everyone affected.
