Don’t miss a beat when it comes to your heart

World Heart Day is a reminder that heart health deserves attention before, during and after a cardiac event.

For many patients, recovery continues long after leaving the hospital. Safe movement, breathing support, education, lifestyle changes and physical rehabilitation can all play an important role in rebuilding strength, confidence and daily function.

At Nurture Health, our teams support patients on their journey towards better heart health and improved quality of life.
Because every heartbeat matters. Every step forward matters.

Many cultures. One shared care journey.

This Heritage Day, we celebrate the rich cultures, languages, traditions, and stories that make South Africa unique.

At Nurture Health, we are reminded every day that care is personal. Every patient brings their own background, values, family story and lived experience into their recovery journey.

Heritage Day is an opportunity to honour diversity, respect one another deeply, and recognise the strength that comes from unity.

As we celebrate who we are and where we come from, may we continue building Better Tomorrows together.

Join us in celebrating the people, cultures and communities that make South Africa so special.

When memories fade, dignity must remain

World Alzheimer’s Day is a reminder that people living with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia need more than care. They need patience, understanding, routine, dignity and support from those around them.

At Nurture Health, we recognise how deeply dementia affects both patients and families. Support may include nursing care, daily structure, communication support, family guidance and physical rehabilitation where needed to help maintain function, safety and quality of life.

Every person deserves to feel seen, respected and cared for, even when the journey becomes difficult.

Nurture Health raises awareness for Nurture Vereeniging at Cormed Private Hospital

Nurture Health recently visited Cormed Private Hospital for a one-day awareness event focused on Nurture Vereeniging.

Our team set up a booth to engage with doctors, medical staff, patients, and visitors who wanted to learn more about Nurture Vereeniging, our services, and the role of physical rehabilitation in supporting recovery after illness, injury, or surgery.

The day created an approachable space for conversations, questions and connection. We also handed out branded merchandise and shared information in a way that helped make physical rehabilitation easier to understand.

Thank you to Cormed Private Hospital for the opportunity to connect with your community.

Keeping people at the heart of healthcare

Nurture Health was proud to support the Melomed Ethics CPD Forum, held on 2 September 2026 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

The forum brought healthcare professionals together to explore the future of ethical, equitable and compassionate care. As healthcare continues to evolve, one thing should never change: people must remain at the heart of care.

At Nurture Health, we believe in learning, collaborating, and continuously improving the way we support patients and their families. Opportunities like these help strengthen the conversations that move healthcare forward.

Thank you to Melomed Private Hospitals for creating a space for meaningful engagement and shared learning.

Walking out with confidence and a grateful heart

At 72, Mrs De Klerk’s recovery journey is a beautiful reminder that every step forward matters.

Earlier this year, she came to Nurture after a knee replacement following a fall at the airport. With support and physical rehabilitation, she recovered well and returned home.

In July, she was re-admitted for a planned total knee replacement on her left leg after experiencing osteoarthritic changes. Having already experienced the care and support at Nurture, Mrs De Klerk was happy to return.

Once again, she committed fully to her physical rehabilitation and made wonderful progress. By the time she was discharged, she walked out of the facility and went home with confidence.

Mrs De Klerk shared that she was very happy to return to Nurture and, in her own words, sad to leave.

Join us in celebrating Mrs De Klerk’s progress and the dedicated team who supported her along the way, helping her move towards Better Tomorrows.

If you or a loved one could benefit from physical rehabilitation, contact Nurture Helderberg to find out how we can support your journey towards Better Tomorrows.

Celebrating the people who keep healthcare connected

In celebration of Secretaries’ Day, Nurture Health, together with Netcare hospitals, hosted a series of breakfast events last week to recognise and thank the medical secretaries who play such an important role in healthcare.

From coordinating communication to supporting patients, doctors and hospital teams, their contribution helps keep care moving smoothly every day.

The events gave us the opportunity to thank secretaries, strengthen referral relationships and share more about the specialised care available at Nurture Health. One of the areas highlighted was our Specialised Ventilator Programme, which provides appropriate patients with specialised post-acute care, ventilator weaning support and coordinated physical rehabilitation.

To every medical secretary, thank you for the important work you do behind the scenes and for the role you play in supporting better patient care. A special thank you to the Netcare team for working with us to make these Secretaries’ Day events possible.

Creating Better Tomorrows... One Patient at a Time

We’re feeling incredibly grateful after receiving a beautiful message from a patient who recovered with us following a total knee replacement.

Knowing we made those early days of recovery a little easier means the world to us.

Thank you, Mrs. K, for trusting us with your healing journey.

We wish you continued strength, smooth recovery, and Better Tomorrows...

From tragedy to triumph

31-year-old Mr Ndika arrived at Nurture Newlands after a tragic accident that resulted in the amputation of his left leg and fractures in his right.

Through two months of intensive, compassionate rehabilitation, including walks in the park, shopping trips, and even visits to the beach, he rebuilt his confidence and independence.

Today, he is safely mobile with elbow crutches and eagerly awaiting his prosthetic limb. His journey is a powerful reminder that with courage and support, recovery can truly create Better Tomorrows.

Together, we nurture Better Tomorrows.

A story of strength and new beginnings

44-year-old Ms Mayekiso was admitted to Nurture Newlands after being involved in a pedestrian vehicle accident that led to an above-knee amputation of her left leg.

After seven weeks of focused rehabilitation, which included strengthening, balance retraining, activities of daily living, and preparation for her prosthetic limb, she was discharged home safely and is now independently mobile with crutches.

Ms Mayekiso has made remarkable progress and continues her rehabilitation journey as she reintegrates into her roles as an employee, a breadwinner, and a proud mother of three beautiful children.

Together, we nurture Better Tomorrows.

Restoring independence through integrated rehabilitation

32-year-old Mr Jacobs was admitted to Nurture Newlands in July 2025 after an injury on duty that required extensive lower limb surgery.

With dedicated support from our Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy teams, he worked to regain his strength, mobility, and confidence.

Upon discharge, Mr Jacobs was able to move safely and independently in his community using elbow crutches and is now fully independent in his daily activities.

Together, we nurture Better Tomorrows.

Community, Courage, and Connection at Muizenberg Beach

Our Nurture Newlands team recently enjoyed a trip to Muizenberg Beach with two of our amazing amputee patients. It was a day filled with community, mobility, confidence, and reintegration.
It was a day of joyful memories and simple pleasures — from enjoying a classic fish and chips, exercising on the sand, and feeling the ocean waves once again. All of this culminated in a sense of rejuvenation for our patients.

One of the patients works as a security patrol officer at the beach, and this outing marked his return since his accident — a truly remarkable and admirable step forward.

This was more than a fun day out; it was a therapeutic outing planned by our Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy teams, focusing on goals such as community navigation, terrain adaptation, and car transfers.

At Nurture Health, moments like these remind us to celebrate every milestone. Every step forward, big or small, counts on the road to recovery and independence.

We do everything we can to ensure Better Tomorrows.

A Better Tomorrow for Mrs Dubula

After undergoing a total hip replacement, Mrs Dubula struggled with mobility and daily tasks due to pain. She joined us at Nurture Newlands for a two-week physical rehabilitation journey — supported by our dedicated interdisciplinary team.

When she was discharged, she could walk outdoors using elbow crutches and independently complete her daily routines — even preparing a snack for herself in the kitchen!

Every day, we see stories like hers — moments of courage, progress, and renewed independence.

Together, we nurture Better Tomorrows.
