There are so many moments that happen at Bohemian on a daily basis.

Big ones that everyone celebrates, and small ones that perhaps only I notice. But they all matter.

Because everyone here is on a different path but the same journey… to be the strongest version of themselves.

These are just a few of the highlights from one week. Someone’s big moment is someone else’s goal. It all gets celebrated, it all counts.

Every Bohemian matters 🫶🏻

You don’t get to choose when life tests you. But you do get to choose how you prepare for that day.

On Friday afternoon Karen was taken out by a taxi doing an illegal U-turn that left her car a write off. But on Monday she was back in the gym under the bar for her usual Monday squats.

This isn’t about glorifying “pushing through pain” - she was treated for whiplash and given the all clear by the physio.

She checked in, listened to her body and trained within what she could tolerate.

The point here is that a strong body is more resilient to impact, stress and better equipped to recover from trauma.

Years of consistent strength training have given Karen a body and mind that recovers better, moves better and tolerates life’s challenges better.

The hours she has spent under the bar building stronger bones and lean muscle have prepared her for more than just the platform.

Because while PRs and records are cool, the real flex is a body that can survive whatever life throws at it. And ultimately that is what everyone should be training for.

To live better, and to be harder to break. Physically and mentally.

Be like Karen. Train for life.

The real danger in kids sports comes from the words coaches use without even thinking about it.

And one of the worst that still persists and grinds my last nerve is “girl push ups” - referring to modified push ups on the knees.

I am a girl. And I can do better and more push ups than most men. And all the girls that train here at Bohemian can too.

But you know what? I also started doing them on my knees. Until I built enough strength and confidence to do them strictly.

If we teach kids that a modification of an exercise is a sign of weakness they will stop trying. And you will have left an ugly imprint on them for longer than you think.

That’s not a scar I’m willing to inflict.

True strength begins with learning where to start and how to progress. There are no limitations on who gets to be strong.

No exercise belongs to one gender.

Boys can (and should) do modified push ups without shame from comments from adults who should know better.

And girls should be shown the same respect when doing this better than their male counterparts.

It really is that simple. If you shame the beginner, you lose the athlete.

And the gym and sport in general should be building confidence - not shaming kids for trying.

At Bohemian we build confidence one rep at a time. And we have zero tolerance for outdated gym myths that have no business shaping the next generation.

We wear 60 differently at Bohemian.

These are all people who either came to me because they were referred via the physio or because they found me online and wanted to get “a bit stronger”.

They are all regular features at Bohemian every week. Putting in more work and effort than people half their age with less excuses.

And the best part is they come because they enjoy it and they can feel the difference it has made in their daily life.

Exercise is less about aesthetics in your 60s and pre about being independent and capable of daily life tasks - and extending a life that I worth living.

Even after some pretty big surgeries the one question they all ask is “when can I come back to training?”

They all lift heavy in comparison to most people in a standard gym. And they’ve all even signed up to various powerlifting competitions coming up.

Lifting weights has given them the freedom to have stronger bodies that they’re comfortable in and confident about.

It’s never too early or too late to strengthen the only body you’ve been given.

She’s 19. On the other side of the world in Germany for a 6-week training camp.

“Can you modify my training programme… I’ll send you a video of the gym and what I have available”

And with no one standing beside her. No coach to push her. No one watching every set. In a foreign country in a strange gym - she showed up and got s**t done.

Followed the new plan. Sent her videos. Made the adjustments.

This is what gets results and makes coaching someone like Erin such a breeze.

She doesn’t only listen when I’m around, she trusts the process when I’m not and knows I’m only a message away.

I have a lot of Bohemians who do the same when they travel and that’s why they get results. Because they’re coachable - and because it matters enough to them to spot.

And most importantly -because they enjoy what they do and how it makes them feel.

This is the Bohemian difference ✌️

There is no fu***ng secret. It’s hard work and time.

Trimira has transformed from the day she got here and continues to look better and better every year.

While lifting heavy.
While not getting bulky (I can’t eyeroll enough here)
While tracking her calories
While still enjoying life
Even with an emigration overseas
Even with no family and friends nearby to support her
Even with a full time job

There is no secret and there are no shortcuts.

And the longer you look for them the longer you’ll be stuck where you are.

If you’re really serious about feeling comfortable in your own skin again get in touch or jump on my next challenge starting July 13.

The day before Trimira hits the powerlifting platform in the UK for the National Championships on her road to World Championships.

We don’t aim low. If you want it, I can help you get it ✌️
