As we mark 60 years of service, we are proud to highlight the professionals who support our operations behind the scenes. Today, we spotlight Simthandile Tunyane, affectionately known as Simmy, who serves as a Finance Intern at the Air Mercy Service (AMS).

In her role, she views finance as the language of the organisation that helps understand challenges, measure progress, and make informed decisions. Simthandile assists with day-to-day financial processes, helping to ensure our resources are managed responsibly and our daily operations run smoothly.
"Finance is often associated with numbers, but I see it as the language of an organisation. It helps us understand challenges, measure progress, and make informed decisions for the future. Learning how work is done behind the scenes supports our teams on the ground and contributes to a greater purpose makes this role deeply meaningful." - Simthandile Tunyane

Outside of work, Simmy recharges by spending quality time with loved ones, enjoying music, and immersing herself in novels. Her approach to growth and new beginnings is captured by her favorite quote: "You don’t have to have everything figured out to move forward, growth happens one step, one lesson, and one day at a time."

We were honoured to host a distinguished Namibian delegation this week at our Cape Town operation, welcoming the Consul General of the Republic of Namibia, representatives from the Namibian Ministry of Health and Social Services, and our partners from the Western Cape Department of Health & Wellness Emergency Medical Services for a collaborative site visit.

The visit provided an opportunity for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and the exchange of expertise, with the delegation gaining insight into the AMS aero-medical operation.

We appreciate the opportunity to collaborate and look forward to building on this partnership as we continue working together to improve access to quality emergency healthcare across Southern Africa. 🌍✨

Employee Spotlight: Welcoming Elihle Kitsi! ✨

We are delighted to introduce Elihle, who recently joined the Air Mercy Service team as our Finance and Administration Intern.

For her, the core of AMS comes down to two values: Compassion and Outreach. "I admire how AMS extends healthcare access and support to underserved communities," she shares.

Away from the office, Elihle is active in church community outreach initiatives or unwinding with friends.

Her personal motto? "Let go and let God. Trust the process, never give up on prayer."
