Dr Leana van Dyk has been passionate about children since a young age. Originally from the Free State, she completed her pre-graduate training at the University of the Free State. There after she spent a couple of years as a ships doctor on board cruise liners. She spent two years in George where she obtained experience in General Surgery and Paediatrics. Her lifelong passion for children and Paed
iatrics was undeniable and she soon entered the Paediatric registrar program at the University of Stellenbosch. She obtained her MMED in Paediatrics at the University of Stellenbosch. She believes in being an advocates for all children in all aspects of life and in being their voice when they are denied one. A Biopsychosocial and evidence based approach is always priority when she manages her patients. Her interest in die field of Paediatrics is vast, but she has a passion for Neurodevelopment, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Intensive care and Neonatology. Her recent interest is in Adolescent care, including improvement of transition of care to the adult services, as she believes we are living in a time where these young adults face more challenges than ever before. Outside work she enjoys the outdoors, sports, keeping active, quality music and quality time with family and friends.
