Behind every campaign sign is a human being who made a decision.

A decision not to look away.
A decision not to remain silent.
A decision to stand publicly for animals whose suffering is so often hidden behind closed doors.

Brian Graham is an animal-rights campaigner, a member of GARD Gauteng Animal Rights Defenders, a participant in the documentary 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗶𝗴𝘀 and one of our featured panelists for its Cape Town premiere.

G.A.R.D. represents something our society desperately needs: ordinary people who are prepared to become extraordinary defenders of animals.

Their work asks difficult questions about the systems we support, the products we purchase and the lives that remain invisible within those choices.

Brian has stood with a clear message calling for the closure of the Molare gas chamber.

On Monday, 10 August, he will bring that experience into The Masque Theatre for a conversation Cape Town needs to have.

𝗠𝗘𝗘𝗧 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗫 🎤

Offstage, she is Bernadette Adams. Onstage, she is Phoenix a professional jazz singer, youth mentor and costume designer who proudly represents Mannenberg.

Bernadette began singing at eight years old and became a finalist on South Africa’s Got Talent in 2016. Her career has since taken her to venues and events including GrandWest, the CTICC, the Good Hope Centre, West End and numerous community and corporate stages.

We are delighted to introduce Phoenix as one of the talented singers performing at Celebrating Women Who Protect Life.

During the Voices for Women Showcase and Awards Ceremony, she will perform Never Enough from The Greatest Showman.

Phoenix chose this song for anyone who has experienced bullying, rejection or marginalisation. Through its powerful message, she hopes to remind people that they have value, deserve to believe in themselves and should never give up on their dreams.

One of the women who shaped her life is Mary Sampson, who taught her dance and drama as a child. While Bernadette was living with a severe skin condition, Mary accepted, encouraged and cared for her. Her compassion remains a lifelong source of inspiration.

Today, Phoenix supports at-risk youth through mentorship, community clean-ups and gardening initiatives, using creativity to encourage positive change.

We are delighted to introduce Caitlin Bracken , one of the talented singers performing at our Celebrating Women Who Protect Life event.

Caitlin is a singer, yoga teacher, illustrator and designer from Clovelly, as well as a member of The Heartsong Collective . During the Voices for Women Showcase and Awards Ceremony, she will perform I Am Light by India Arie

She chose this song because it speaks to the light that exists beneath the expectations, appearances and stories that often surround us. Caitlin hopes her performance leaves the audience feeling uplifted and reminded of the beauty within ourselves, one another and all living beings.

Over the coming weeks, we will introduce more of the artists who will be sharing their voices on this special stage.
