The years fly by faster and faster! As I prepare to pause to go on maternity leave, I am in awe of the past 6 months, and even more so about the rest of the year.

What can you appreciate about how you've approached the first half of the year?

Michael Hyatt's words in my inbox resonated with me this week:

"Most people think December feels heavy because of the parties, travel, shopping, or late nights.

But the real cost of this month isn’t on your calendar, Kerry...

It’s the invisible load you carry. Things like…

→ Remembering every gift list.
→ Coordinating travel and schedules.
→ Managing emotions and expectations.
→ Planning gatherings, meals, logistics.
→ Keeping work afloat while everyone else checks out.
→ Trying to hold it all together for your team and your family.

None of that shows up on your to-do list. But your body feels every bit of it.@

I'll add that for those who are carrying grief or loneliness, this is even more so.

This fatigue can feel incongruent with the festivities, rendered invisible, leading us to overcompensate in order to 'push through'. January can then meet us feeling even worse for wear.

If this resonates, I invite you to reflect on, journal or discuss some of these questions:
- How can I acknowledge the complexities of this time and hold space for myself within it?
- How can I do this differently this year?
- What tweaks would bring more balance and sustainability?
- Where do expectations (mine or others) need to be downscaled?
- What is priority - and how can I be intentional there?
- What can be simplified, slowed or shared?
- How do I want to feel in January and what path would align with that from now?

I wish you all a peaceful, joyful and safe season! 🌺

Kindness Advent Calendar :

1 December - Let someone into the traffic.

Kindness isn’t just “being nice”, it literally changes your brain.
Every time you do something kind, your brain releases feel-good chemicals that boost your mood, calm your stress system, and help you connect more easily with others.

Small acts lead to big brain benefits.
More calm
Better emotional regulation
Stronger relationships
A happier, healthier mind

And this December, we’re bringing kindness to life with our Advent Kindness Calendar 24 simple daily acts to help grow calmer brains, bigger hearts and stronger communities.

Kindness isn’t weakness.
It’s neuroscience.
And it spreads.
