💜 𝘼 𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙈𝙞𝙙𝙬𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙗𝙮 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚…
It has come to my attention that some information about this practice has been shared that is simply not true.
So, rather than allow misinformation to continue circulating, I would like to clarify a few things.

𝗠𝗶𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗯𝘆 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆-𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝗯𝘆 𝗺𝘆𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝘆 𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗱, 𝗝𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝘆.
𝗪𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.

𝗝𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿. 𝗛𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟬 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗯𝘆 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲.
When we started the practice, it was important for me to have someone managing the business side because, quite honestly, nursing and midwifery school did not prepare me to run a business. 😂
So Jeremy manages the business administration, finances, medical aid claims, invoicing and much of the email communication with clients.

𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗲𝘀 — 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗝𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲.
Our clients get to know him. They chat to him. The dads (and the moms) love talking to him....and Jeremy looooves talking 🤭The little ones sometimes play outside when he's around. We've even had little ones asking, “Where's Uncle Jeremy?” when they haven't seen him for a while. ❤️
𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒕'𝒔 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒔 𝑴𝒊𝒅𝒘𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝒃𝒚 𝑵𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒕 𝒊𝒔.

But there is a very important distinction:
𝗝𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀.
𝗛𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀.

𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗮 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗶𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗳𝗲.

If he happens to be on the premises when a client arrives, he may chat to the client initially, but when the consultation begins, he excuses himself so that the client and I can have our private consultation.

As a midwife, I understand how important it is for women to feel completely comfortable and safe when discussing their pregnancy, their bodies, their personal circumstances and sometimes very intimate matters.
My clients deserve that privacy, and they have it.
So yes, Midwife by Nature is a family business.
Yes, Jeremy is involved in the business.
Yes, he communicates with clients.
And yes, our clients often get to know him and become part of our extended Midwife by Nature family. 💜
But he is not involved in my clinical consultations.
I would therefore respectfully ask that people please stop sharing information about my practice that is not based on fact.
𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗠𝗶𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗯𝘆 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝗺𝗲.

There is absolutely no need to make assumptions or repeat information that you have heard from someone else!!
This practice is built on trust, professionalism, privacy, confidentiality and respect for the women I care for.
And those are values that I will never compromise.

Medico-Legal risk Seminar

This past weekend I referred a client to hospital with Preeclampsia. This client has medical aid, but because we don't have private backup, I had to refer her to Tygerberg hospital, which is a public hospital...and I just have to add that she received exceptional care at the facility and both her and baby are doing amazing ❤️
But it just brought up the question again...Why do we have to struggle with private backup for homebirths in Cape Town?!?

TO EVERY WOMAN . TODAY I SEE YOU ❤️
As a midwife, I have witnessed the incredible strength of so many women in a way that few people get to. And honestly, their strength makes me stronger!

I see it from the very beginning of pregnancy — watching a woman's body change, sometimes in ways she never imagined. The hormonal changes, the physical changes, the discomfort, the exhaustion, the uncertainty… All while her body is doing something extraordinary: growing another human being.

And then comes birth.

Whether she labours through hours of contractions and gives birth vaginally, or whether her baby is born by Caesarean section, birth takes courage, strength and resilience. There is no "easy" way to bring a baby into this world. Every birth asks something of a woman.

But as a midwife, I also witness the other side of motherhood.

I have stood beside women through miscarriage. Through ectopic pregnancies. Through the heartbreak of losing a baby during pregnancy, during labour, or after birth.
And somehow, through the heartbreak, the tears and the unimaginable pain, women find a way to keep going.

They wake up the next morning.
They care for their families.
They go to work.
They carry on with life.
Even when a part of them is hurting in ways nobody else can see.

THAT IS STRENGTH!!

But I also want to say this today: being strong doesn't mean you never break down. It doesn't mean you have to cope alone. It doesn't mean you aren't allowed to grieve, to cry, to feel overwhelmed or to ask for help.
Sometimes strength is simply getting through the next hour.

Every woman I have cared for has taught me something. Every birth, every loss, every tear, every moment of courage has reminded me why I chose this profession.

You have shown me what resilience looks like.

And because I have witnessed your strength, I want to be strong for you too — to stand beside you, to support you, to advocate for you, to hold space for you when you need it, and to remind you of your strength when you have forgotten it yourself.

To every woman I have had the privilege of caring for, and to every woman everywhere:

You are strong. You are worthy. You are enough.
