Can you turn fear into excitement? 🧐.
Definitely screamed my head off on this one. 😂 I did the tallest bungee jump in the world a few days ago with and let me tell you - it was a THRILL! I was very nervous leading up to the jump, but here’s a secret: nerves and excitement are the exact same physical sensations..
Sweaty palms.
Racing heart.
Jitters.
Different breathing.
Tension in weird parts of the body.
It’s all adrenaline..
So, I kept telling myself that as we drove to the bridge. And once my harness to zip line out to the jumping platform was on, all I felt was anticipation..
The perception of a feeling in the body is what affects our experience of it. Don’t get me wrong - the perception of fear is a survival mechanism that’s highly useful in plenty of situations. It’s wise to heed those body warnings, say, if someone nearby is making you feel uneasy. But in a situation like this? It’s a GREAT practice to re-write anxiety. .
So - what’s something that often makes you nervous or anxious that you could re-write as excitement or anticipation?

Merry Christmas Eve!! Not gonna lie, this is THE way to celebrate: crush some 😤 Recipe 👇🏼👇🏼.
INGREDIENTS:
👉🏼 1 piece toast of choice (this is sourdough)
👉🏼 Butter (I use )
👉🏼 1/2 an avocado
👉🏼 Sea salt
👉🏼 Black pepper
👉🏼 Cayenne pepper
👉🏼 Turmeric
👉🏼 Red pepper flakes .
DIRECTIONS:
👉🏼 Toast your bread & spread some butter on it as soon as it pops out
👉🏼 Mash your avocado on the bread, on top of the butter
👉🏼 Sprinkle the seasonings to taste. I’ve seriously not found an upper limit to this blend yet, so feel free to go crazy!
👉🏼 Enjoy for yourself or sell to a millennial for $12 a piece.
I hope you enjoy - let me know what you think after you try it 😉 This would be the perfect way to start tomorrow’s celebrations, if you ask me! Merry Christmas, y’all 💜

I shared this on my personal Facebook yesterday and the comments of hate are still coming in.

I’m not trying to tell anyone to go kill stuff for food.

What I’m saying is that the healthiest human diet possible is omnivorous, proven by the type of digestive tract we have & what nutritional deficiencies occur when you cut out all animal products.

What I’m also saying is that if you’re eating meat and you don’t know the source, hunting is the best way to fix that.

And, most of all, what I’m saying is that if you eat meat and you’re bothered by remembering that it comes from animals, that’s some massive cognitive dissonance you’re dealing with.

If your ethics have led you to cut out all animal products, bravo.

Way to take a stand for something you really believe in. You’re fighting against factory farming and violence.

But don’t immediately discredit someone who harvests their meat in this way.

We’ve done our research, too.

I’d love to have a legitimate, curious and validly educational discussion with you about these two sides.

Anyway, I’m pumped as hell about the this deer I harvested for my family yesterday.

He’ll feed us for a few months.

Oh, and get ready for even more educational hunting content from me.

Have you seen these “toe shoes” before? Do you know what purpose they’re supposed to serve?

I think this is my 5th or 6th pair of and I will always just laugh with the haters because these things WORK for me. Until I found these shoes, I suffered from TERRIBLE shin splints.

And what most people don’t realize about shin splints is that they can move up the leg and into the knee or hips to cause problems there down the line.

How does this relate to your workout shoes?

Well, the “normal” workout shoe design that was popularized when Nike first came on the scene changes the way your foot strikes the ground. It literally moves us from a mid-foot strike to a heel strike.

This stride change really makes a difference up the entire body. Anything that changes a joint’s movement affects all other joints above it in the body chain. So, if we’re changing how the toes & ankle (the two lowest joint sections of the body) land when we step, we’re changing how THE ENTIRE REST OF THE CHAIN moves, too. That’s how shin splints lead to knee, hip, and even back problems down the line.

But before you grab a pair of Vibrams and start running right away, chill for a sec. If you’re used to using “normal” sneakers to workout in, minimalist shoes are something you should work up to.

This is because those old sneakers were restricting your foot’s natural movement so much that the muscles it takes to walk around without support are literally underdeveloped.

So, make sure to just wear those minimalist shoes during light activity at first. I started using Vibrams when I was still in school, so I’d wear them to walk around campus to classes all day. This made my ankles stronger so that, a month or two in, I was able to start running in them.

Now, I can’t run in anything else without feeling the knee pain. Even just one run in “regular” sneakers has me moving like an old lady from joint issues an hour after it’s over. And in vibrams? Nothing. Seriously.

Anyway this isn’t a partnership post or anything, just some observations I’ve found that work for me written as a love letter for these kinda-weird shoes. See you on the track. 😉✌🏼

Do you tend to eat less healthy things when you’re traveling? 🤨.
This is a common complaint I hear a lot from people: “there’s just not many healthy options when I’m not home.” .
Truthfully, that’s not accurate. There ARE healthy options out there - we just forget about them when we’re in a less-familiar place. Most people trend toward eating at restaurants when they’re out of town and that’s fine, but there are tons of small towns that truly don’t have healthy restaurant options..
But what about the grocery store? Those are all over AND it’s easy to find something at least “decent” that’s better than fast food. And that’s the route and I go when we’re traveling..
On our road trip right now, for example, we made sure to bring a cooler along so we could stock up on lots of veggies, healthy deli meat options, and snacks along the way. This is a pic of the first two EPIC sandwiches that Alex made us on our first leg from Austin to Boulder - and they were deliciously satisfying! 😋.
Whatever your diet choices are, it’s easy enough to find SOMEThing that meets your standards at a nearby grocery store. Plus... that’s a WAY more affordable way to travel. Just sayin’. 😉.
PS - what are some of your favorite healthy travel snack or meal hacks?? I’d love to know!
