Pictured here are but four of the wonderful women who make Helderberg Hospice what it is. Behind them stand so many more, in our support centre, our offices, our shops and support teams, every one of them showing up quietly and consistently for the work that matters.

This Women's Day, as we mark over 40 years of quality care, we are honouring all of them. The ones photographed today and the many more who couldn't be, each playing their part in helping our patients and families navigate their serious illness journey.

Happy Women's Day to every woman who supports hospice and palliative care in our community.

We received a wonderful donation from Truworths Involved in recognition of Mandela Day 2026, consisting of items which we use daily for our patients. Madiba taught us that even the smallest acts of kindness can change the world. Truworths Involved’s generosity has not only helped us meet practical needs but has also strengthened our belief in the power of community and the difference we can make when we stand together. Thank you!

40 x packs of 10 Adult disposable nappies (large and XL)
25 x packs of 180 Twinsaver tissues
25 x packs of 18 2-ply toilet paper
20 x 9kg bags of Omo washing powder
6 x packs of 4 x 64 wetwipes

What an evening. Last Thursday, 23 July, we gathered for our Celebration of Life dinner, generously hosted by Wolf Kreft of Hyundai Somerset West.

Around 120 guests joined us for a night that truly embodied kindness and celebrating life. Rugby broadcast legend Matthew Pearce, two time Rugby World Cup winner Steven Kitshoff, and Riley Norton, 2025 World Rugby U20 Champion, took to the couch for a candid conversation about their journeys, hosted with warmth by our MC for the evening, Karien Basson. All three were incredibly generous with their time, posing for selfies and signing memorabilia throughout the night.

A special thank you to Cherise Biagio-Pereira, who planned the evening down to the last detail and transformed the venue into something truly beautiful for the occasion.

We were also deeply grateful for the community's support of our auction, with lots including a one-of-a-kind Matthew Pearce and Steven Kitshoff signed leather bound book, a private dining experience with chef Neill Anthony, a 2025 Springbok jersey signed by the squad, a signed Riley Norton jersey, golf fourball vouchers, and a range of other experiences.

To Wolf and Cherise, our incredible donors, and everyone who came out to support us: thank you. Evenings like this remind us just how much this community shows up for Helderberg Hospice.
