Why Reading to Kids Matters 💛📚

Excessive screen use in early childhood has been associated with reduced sleep quality, fewer opportunities for active play, and less parent–child interaction 🤳

Current guidance from the World Health Organisation and the American Academy of Paediatrics recommends avoiding screen time where possible for children under 2 years of age and limiting it to no more than 1 hour per day of high-quality content for children aged 2–5 years, ideally with active parental involvement and supervision.

Less is more! 👩‍💻

E-bike crashes are now the leading cause of injury for school-aged children in emergency rooms. Some of these injuries are very similar to injuries seen in motorcycle crashes, like traumatic brain injuries, broken bones and internal chest or abdominal injuries. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends that children under the age of 12 should not ride e-bikes. Learn more about e-bike safety: https://bit.ly/3RSvmwF

🤱 Going back to work doesn't mean you have to stop breastfeeding.

Many mothers continue breastfeeding after returning to work by feeding their baby when they are together and expressing breastmilk for someone else to feed while they are away.

💙 Breastfeed your baby before you leave for work, when you return home, during the night, and on weekends. This helps keep your milk supply strong and gives you special time to bond with your baby.

🍼 At work, you can express breastmilk by hand or with a manual or electric breast pump. Before expressing, wash your hands, use a clean container, and find a comfortable, private place. Gently massage your breasts first to help your milk flow, then express your milk into the container.

❄️ Store your expressed safely so your baby can continue enjoying the benefits of breastmilk even when you're apart.

Every mother deserves support at work and at home to continue breastfeeding for as long as she chooses. Together, we can help give every baby the healthiest start in life.
