If you’re a parent trying to practice food neutrality and intuitive eating, Halloween can be suuuper tricky (ha!) and can trigger any underlying fears we have around sweets, chocolate and treats in relation to our children. Try see it as the perfect opportunity to practice your intuitive eating skills, and to teach our children the value of seeing all food as equal and listening to our bodies. How do you feel about the buckets of candy your kids bring back? Vote below ⬇️

New colours, new design, because what else do you do at midnight when the 1yo doesn't sleep 😁?

2023 was a ride (yes, I am aware it's March) with a new baby, a toddler turned threenager, moving house and overall trying to keep my head above water.

Hoping to spend more time here with you lovely parents and working on finishing my sleep series. Wondering what my next post should be about - what are you curious to know? Vote or let me know in the comments ⤵️

To end of World Breastfeeding Week, we want to answer a question we get asked all the time by moms - is alcohol safe when nursing?

The answer is 𝘆𝗲𝘀 - both the CDC and AAP recommend sticking to to 1-2 drinks per day. You can limit exposure in your breast milk by drinking your wine immediately after a feed and waiting 2 or more hours before breastfeeding again.

The percentage of alcohol in breast milk is exactly the same as your blood alcohol percentage at the time, so as the alcohol leaves your body, it leaves your breast milk - 𝗻𝗼 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝘂𝗺𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝘂𝗺𝗽 if you stick to these recommendations. More good news is that none of the toxic byproducts of alcohol metabolism make it into your breast milk.

So go ahead mama and enjoy that glass of wine 🍷

Humans are social creatures, and one of the ways we share and enjoy each other's company is by eating together.

Meals that are shared - whether dinner with the family, coffee and cake with a friend or pancakes for brekkie on the weekend - are more enjoyable, more special, and research shows that both babies and adults eat more when in a group setting.

It's easy to fall into the trap of sticking baby in a highchair and spoon feeding him in isolation, and the habit of solitary eating can extend well into toddlerhood, especially when parents have hectic schedules and their children's mealtimes don't fit well with their own.

Make effort to eat alongside your child and to share a meal at least once a day, if possible, especially at dinner time when they are tired and eating tends to be the last thing they want to do. Incorporating fun, community and laughter into meals can be game changing.
