On Sunday, 2 August 2026, 2 Families of Farrier Way, Portland lost everything in a fire.

We call on all our friends and family to gracefully bless and donate to these families so that they can restart their lives.

If each one helps their neighbour - who will need help.

What is a Ward Committee?
A ward committee is an advisory body made up of a local ward councillor and up to 10 elected community members.

What do Ward Committees do?
They are the Communication bridge between the Ward Cllr and the residents of the ward. The make recommendations on matters affecting the specific ward.

IDP and budget input: They help ensure community participation in the local Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and annual municipal budgets.

Service delivery oversight: They Identify local service problems and helps track development projects in the area.

We have Elections on Wed, 4th Nov 2026, we will be voting for our ward councillors.

Thereafter - ward committees will be established.

I encourage local residents to get involved in ward committees and have a say on service deliver in their ward as well as have a say on how the Ward Allocations of R1million per ward gets spent in your ward.

My SAPS is a FREE application available for IPhones and other smartphones, provided by the South African Police Services. My SAPS will allow you to submit crime tip-offs (anonymously) to the Crime Stop Centre and send updates.

It also allows you easy access to all SAPS Stations information with the SAPS Station finder, as well as to all SAPS Social Media platforms.

Why use My SAPS?

My SAPS provides a new and easy way for citizens to access polices services and information, as well as enabling everyone to contribute towards building a more crime free society:

- Tip–off: You can submit a tip-off anonymously on criminals and their activities .

- Station and Facilities Finder: The ability to locate the nearest police station and view all contact information.

- Quick access to all SAPS Social Media platforms.

- People of Interest: View a list of people who are missing and who saps is searching for.

Cllr Goawa Timm Prepares to retire after 21 years of service.

Cllr Timm has been our Ward 78 Cllr (Portland - From Morgenster Ave to Wespoort, Block H, K,L, C and D) for 5 years.

In this 5 years we witnessed how she listened and most times - tried to meet the request of the Portland Community she served.

The following request were seen to

1) Indigent Grant's

2) Speed Reducing Measures in the residential spaces.

3) Multiple Park upgrades and Gym Equipment Transformation in all blocks under her leadership.

4) Supporting Force for Lane Closure.

5) NHW - accredited and none accreditated were equally supported.

6) Training Opportunity for our Youth.

These are just 6 things that some of us personally requested from her and she followed through.

We trust that incoming Cllr will serve as with the same zeal as our outgoing Cllr.

We wish Cllr Goawa Timm well in her retirement. May she enjoy the next part of her life dedicated to her family. Thank You Cllr for your service.
