Have you been portrayed as the aggressor, the antagonist or the perpetrator, when in reality you have always been the target of mentally unwell people?

This happened to me, when I started dating my partner of 11 years. He was manipulated by his ex-fiance into believing that I was manipulating him. Because he was an alcoholic, he allowed her to influence him, she would go out and get drunk with him and return to our home and declare that she was home, that she was his fiance. She even barged into our bedroom, where my daughter and I were sleeping and called us both! F& #%(ing s***s! My daughter was 16 years old at the time.

I had to call the police every time I felt I was in danger, and that was often! At that stage I had started managing properties and sold a property and was waiting for the proceeds, in order to move out.

But they all wanted me to leave sooner and couldn't let me be, they were harassing me to leave. I had to send my daugher to a friend in the Northern Cape to escape the violence.

One evening I was over powered by both my partner and his mother and my phone was confiscated by them. I had to run outside and hailed to someone driving past to call the police.

The police arrived, and the officer called for two more vans to come to the house. Because the policewoman in charge of the DV at the station, had told me just days before that if I called the police for help one more time, both of us would be arrested - I was put in the back of a van and suffered this police brutality, where the driver breaked so hard I was catapulted inside the cell so that my head gashed open and I needed stitches.

The following day I was defamed on a Facebook group by the admin - Hout Bay Organised group calling me a psychopath and that he wouldn't trust me with his children.

For 12 years he has been involved with other gang stalkers, defaming me continuously. I would consider them all social predators. They target me, slander, devalue, dehumanize me to anyone and everyone. And because they are a group - everyone believes them.

I am challenging them and their narrative of me. And will be exposing the truth with evidence, to oppose their lies.

They Sabotage you and your ability to earn a living through sustained and co-ordinated character assassination.

Then, these social predators turn it around and use it against you, portraying you as a deceitful, dangerous person.

The psychological tactics are the tools they use to gain and retain control of their victim's life by creating instability and using the result against them.

The classic checklist for psychopathy was developed in 1980 by Prof Robert Hare, who is still the recognised giant of the territory. The 20 traits, which ranged from pathological lying to a lack of empathy, were based entirely on prison populations. This worked because not only did Hare have the benefit of a large sample, with pronounced psychopathic behaviours, but he was able to compare interviews and self-reporting with data collected about the individuals – so inconsistencies could be identified.

Scientific research shows that predators consistently target women based on one trait.

When federal attorney Adeline Dimond was catcalled by two men in 2025, she bypassed the standard safety playbook of ignoring and walking faster. Instead, she confronted them with screamed profanities and threats, leaving her harassers visibly stunned.

While Dimond initially wondered if her outburst was reckless, psychological and physiological research reveals that 'out-crazying' a threat is actually a highly effective self-defense mechanism.

For over a decade, criminological studies have shown that predators select victims based on body language. In a pivotal study from the Journal of Interpersonal Violence, incarcerated violent offenders consistently targeted individuals whose gaits and posture projected anxiety, insecurity, and vulnerability, while avoiding those who displayed confidence and the potential to fight back.

Beyond sheer confidence, unleashing active anger and erratic behavior can physically short-circuit an attacker's brain. Evolutionary biology conditions humans to fear the unpredictable—such as a sudden, frantic lunging or wild, unhinged movements. Similarly, maximizing the visibility of the sclerae, or 'crazy eyes,' subconsciously triggers panic in others, reversing who feels like the prey. While patriarchal societies have historically conditioned women to suppress their anger to avoid social judgment, experts note that doing so only benefits abusers and perpetuates their impunity. Reclaiming the protective power of rage is more than a psychological boundary; it is a vital, biology-backed defense tool that transforms a target from passive prey into an unpredictable threat.

⏬🪞THE PREDATOR PERSONALITY

The mask isn't the problem. The pattern is.

Most people imagine predators as obvious.

Aggressive. Intimidating. Easy to spot.

The reality is often the opposite.

The most effective predators don't lead with control. They lead with connection.

They appear trustworthy, misunderstood, generous, wounded, loyal, protective, charming, or highly empathetic.

They study people, learn what makes them tick, and adapt themselves accordingly.

The danger isn't who they pretend to be.

The danger is the gap between who they present and who they consistently prove themselves to be over time.

THE 3–6 MONTH REVEAL

Time is the enemy of deception.

For the first few months, almost anyone can maintain an image.

But eventually the cracks begin to appear.

Contradictions emerge.

Stories stop matching actions.

Boundaries trigger unexpected reactions.

Victimhood becomes a recurring theme.

Patterns that once seemed like isolated incidents begin connecting into a larger picture.

What once looked like bad luck starts looking like a cycle.

What once looked like coincidence starts looking like a strategy.

THE PATTERN

The predator rarely asks:

"How do we solve this?"

Instead, consciously or unconsciously, the question becomes:

"How do I benefit?"

People become resources.

Relationships become opportunities.

Conflict becomes leverage.

Sympathy becomes currency.

Truth becomes negotiable.

Perception becomes everything.

HOW THEY OPERATE

First they identify strengths and vulnerabilities.

Not weakness.
Strength.
Kindness.
Empathy.
Forgiveness.
Loyalty.

The willingness to see the good in people.

Then they test boundaries.

Small things at first.

A lie.
A guilt trip.
A disrespectful comment.
A crossed line.
A rewritten story.

If challenged, they watch closely.

Do you back down?
Do you doubt yourself?
Do you explain your boundary?
Do you abandon it?

Every response provides information.

THE WEAPON OF CONFUSION

Healthy people seek clarity.

Manipulative people often create confusion.

Because confused people become easier to influence.

You begin questioning your memory.

Your instincts.

Your interpretation of events.

Your reactions.

Your boundaries.

The more confused you become, the more dependent you become on their version of reality.

That dependency is where control begins.

THE ROLE OF VICTIMHOOD

Victimhood is one of the most powerful forms of protection.

Because good people don't want to hurt someone who appears wounded.

So accountability gets redirected.

Instead of discussing behavior:

The conversation becomes about their pain.

Instead of addressing actions:

The conversation becomes about their feelings.

Instead of responsibility:

The conversation becomes about sympathy.

Eventually the person harmed ends up comforting the person causing the harm.

WHY BOUNDARIES CHANGE EVERYTHING

The turning point is rarely conflict.
The turning point is boundaries.

A boundary communicates:

"I see what is happening."

To a healthy person, boundaries create safety.

To a manipulative person, boundaries remove access.

This is often when the mask begins slipping.

Suddenly you become:

Difficult.
Cold.
Unforgiving.
Selfish.
Negative.

The boundary didn't create the problem.

The boundary exposed it.

THE GROUP DYNAMIC

Predators thrive where perception matters more than facts.

In groups they rarely attack directly.

They influence.
Suggest.
Hint.
Imply.

Plant seeds.
Spread half-truths.
Control narratives.

Recruit sympathy.
Gather allies.

The target often doesn't realize what's happening until opinions have already formed.

The attack is rarely on reputation alone.

It's on credibility.

Because once credibility is weakened, truth becomes easier to dismiss.

THE BIGGEST RED FLAG

Everyone makes mistakes.
Everyone has flaws.
Everyone gets things wrong.

The biggest warning sign isn't imperfection.

It's the inability to self-reflect.

The inability to say:

"I was wrong."

When every failed relationship has a villain.

Every conflict has a culprit.
Every criticism is an attack.
Every consequence is unfair.

And accountability never arrives.

You're no longer looking at isolated incidents.

You're looking at a pattern.

THE TRUTH ABOUT TIME

Predators often win the beginning.

Authentic people often win the ending.

Because performance requires energy.

Masks require maintenance.

Stories require consistency.

Manipulation requires constant management.

Truth requires none of those things.

Eventually time starts asking questions that deception cannot answer.

And what remains is not the image.
Not the reputation.
Not the narrative.
Only the pattern.

"Character is not revealed by how someone behaves when they are admired, supported, and getting what they want. Character is revealed by how they behave when they are challenged, corrected, disappointed, or told 'No'."

Social predators, narcissistic psychopaths and their tactics.
They seek control of their victim's life. They are on the offensive for a personal reason, to exploit you. Whether to detroy your life, or to take advantage of you for financial or alternative reasons.

Deny the harm you cause.
Attack your target with false allegations, applying for protection orders and interdicts to create a false image about your target.
Reversing the VictimOffender roles.

Authorities, law enforcement officials, detectives and court clerks and officials MUST get trained on this deceptive modus operandi that allows these psychological murderers to get away with their crimes.

SOME PEOPLE PRETEND YOU’VE HURT THEM TO DISTRACT YOU FROM THE FACT THEY’RE HURTING YOU.

This is one of the most confusing dynamics in narcissistic abuse.

You confront them about a lie.

Now they’re hurt that you don’t trust them.

You challenge the way they spoke to you.

Now they’re devastated by your tone.

You discover they’ve betrayed you.

Now you’re cruel for questioning them.

You finally lose your temper after being repeatedly provoked.

Suddenly, your reaction becomes the entire story and everything that happened beforehand disappears.

Before long, you’re comforting the person who hurt you.

You’re apologising.

You’re explaining yourself.

You’re trying to prove you’re not a terrible person.

And the original behaviour never gets addressed.

This can be incredibly effective because it shifts your attention away from what they did and onto how you responded to what they did.

Eventually, you may become so frightened of being portrayed as the aggressor that you stop challenging anything at all.

That’s how accountability gets turned upside down.

Their feelings can be real, but feeling hurt doesn’t automatically mean they were the person who was wronged.

If you’re dealing with this kind of blame shifting and struggling to work out how to respond, my private 1-2-1 coaching gives you personalised support for your specific situation.
