Why Crazy Socks Matter

The movement began with a simple pair of mismatched socks.

When Australian cardiologist Dr Geoff Toogood wore odd socks to work, colleagues quietly wondered if he was "failing again." In reality, he was well. His new puppy had simply eaten all the matching pairs, leaving him with only odd socks to wear. Rather than asking if he was okay, people whispered behind the scenes.

That experience sparked a movement to challenge the stigma surrounding mental health in healthcare professionals and to make it okay for doctors to be human—to struggle, to seek support, and to talk openly about their wellbeing.

It's a powerful reminder for all of us:

💚 Check in rather than assume.
💚 Ask rather than speculate.
💚 Offer support rather than judgement.

Sometimes the conversations we avoid are the ones that matter most.

The court has found the accused (49) GUILTY on all charges — including the murder of Daniël Jamneck.
