We all tend to forget.

“There is no such thing as a baby, there is a baby AND someone” said Donald Winnicott.

For babies to thrive, their caregivers must thrive too. After all, a baby’s first environment and community is that of their family. To care most for the vulnerable among us, we must support and love those who do that daily work.

And it *is* work - so if you’re tempted to say at the end of the day “I didn’t really do anything useful, I just held the baby and drank cold tea” … squash that thought.

You did EVERYTHING today to nurture that little life in your arms, and you cared for that little person’s essential support structure (even if the tea was cold! have you got a thermos mug???)
