Ever tried to look directly at that little squiggle in your vision… only for it to float away like it has somewhere better to be?

Those little dots, threads, rings and cobweb-like shapes are called "eye floaters" — and they’re actually pretty common.

Most floaters are harmless, but your eyes do deserve a little attention when something suddenly changes. A sudden increase in floaters, especially alongside flashes of light, a shadow or “curtain” across your vision, or sudden vision changes, should be checked promptly.

Because when your eyes start adding their own special effects, it’s worth making sure they’re just being dramatic.
