Another successful installation completed! 🚚✨

Our laser technician recently travelled to My Laser Clinic in Mauritius to install their newly acquired pre-owned Fotona SP Dynamis laser system.

While on-site, routine servicing and maintenance were also completed to ensure the system continues to operate at peak performance, giving the clinic confidence in delivering reliable treatments to their patients.

At Medical Laser Technologies, our support extends well beyond installation. From technical servicing to ongoing maintenance, we're committed to helping our clients get the very best from their Fotona systems.

Ever wondered what actually happens during laser tattoo removal?

Fotona laser systems deliver short, high-energy pulses of light that are selectively absorbed by tattoo pigment. This causes the ink particles to fragment into much smaller pieces while minimising damage to the surrounding skin.

Over the following weeks, your body's immune system gradually clears away these fragmented ink particles through its natural lymphatic processes. Because your body needs time to remove the broken-down pigment, multiple treatment sessions are usually required.

Laser technology breaks the ink apart—your body does the rest.

Medical lasers don't simply emit light—they deliver carefully controlled energy at specific wavelengths to interact with targeted tissues within the body.

Fotona systems utilise advanced laser technology to selectively target chromophores such as melanin, haemoglobin and water, allowing practitioners to customise treatments for a wide range of medical and aesthetic indications.

By combining Er:YAG (2940 nm) and Nd:YAG (1064 nm) wavelengths, Fotona systems offer exceptional versatility—from precise skin resurfacing to deeper tissue treatments, all while allowing practitioners to tailor protocols to each patient's individual needs.

Swipe through to discover:
🔴 What makes a medical laser different from ordinary light
🔴 The science of selective targeting
🔴 Why Fotona combines two complementary wavelengths
🔴 How advanced pulse technology enhances precision

Not all tattoo inks respond the same way—that's why wavelength matters.

The StarWalker® MaQX system uses multiple wavelengths to target a wide range of tattoo pigments with precision:

• 1064 nm (Nd:YAG): Ideal for dark pigments, including black, dark blue and brown inks.
• 532 nm (KTP): Best for bright, warm colours such as red, orange, tan and purple inks.
• 650 nm (Dye Handpiece): Specifically targets green inks.
• 585 nm (Dye Handpiece): Designed for challenging sky-blue inks.

With Fotona's FracTat™ protocol, practitioners can deliver effective, patient-friendly tattoo removal while treating a broad spectrum of ink colours.

What do Nd:YAG and Er:YAG actually mean? 🤔

If you've ever wondered what these names stand for, you're not alone!

Nd:YAG and Er:YAG aren't just technical terms—they refer to the crystal inside the laser that generates its specific wavelength.

🔴 Nd:YAG = Neodymium-doped Yttrium Aluminium Garnet
🔴 Er:YAG = Erbium-doped Yttrium Aluminium Garnet

Although they share the same crystal base (YAG), each is "doped" with a different rare-earth element, giving it unique properties and making it suitable for different clinical applications.

At Fotona, combining these two wavelengths in one platform gives practitioners exceptional versatility—allowing them to perform a wide range of aesthetic, medical and surgical procedures with precision and confidence.

Understanding the science behind the technology helps you appreciate why wavelength matters.
