This week we're introducing you to Simone, whose passion for the healing power of Aloe Vera has grown into a thriving local business. What started as a childhood appreciation for natural remedies has blossomed into Gentle Healers – a proudly South African brand dedicated to helping people discover the remarkable benefits of this incredible plant.
"My upbringing was rooted in my mom's use of natural remedies, but discovering Aloe Vera over 47 years ago changed everything for me. I was blown away by its versatility, using it as a teenager for acne, sunburns, rashes, and insect bites, and today, I still find new uses for its powerful anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial properties to soothe my age-related ailments. After a full career in IT, I channeled this lifelong passion into launching my own premium brand of Aloe Vera products in 2018, called Gentle Healers, focusing on the plant's renowned deep healing properties and beauty-enhancing capabilities, for which it has been used for centuries.
The true turning point for my business came in 2019 when I began trading at the spectacular Shongweni Farmers & Craft Market. Joining this vibrant community completely elevated my brand, connecting me with incredible clients I never would have reached otherwise. Today, the market remains the proud home of my business where I get to share the ancient power of Aloe Vera every single week at my stall G13.
