“We evolved in nature. Our nervous systems still remember that.” 🌿

Another worthwhile training day with Child Therapy Toolbox 🇿🇦 on Nature-Based Therapy – a topic close to my heart.

Such a great day. Lauren uses practical examples, case studies, and clinically backed research to make this topic engaging and accessible, and I’m feeling very inspired.

As usual, Lauren shares the kind of practical wisdom that varsity forgot to teach us. 🤪

Highly recommended to any colleagues who work with children.

Thank you, Lauren. 🪷🌷🌸🌼🌳

My moment in the sun… ☀️

A heartfelt thank you to the lovely team at Get It magazine for this thoughtful feature. It felt a little strange being on the other side of the questions, but I’m grateful for the opportunity to share a bit about the work I love.

If you’d like to have a read, here’s the article.

An important read. Parents: stay connected to your children. Schools: exclusion is not “kids being kids”. Respond early. Intervene.

A new trend is making the rounds in school group chats, asking children to publicly vote on who is "worthy" of dating. It may look harmless, but the impact on self-esteem, empathy and online behaviour can be far more damaging than parents realise.

Some useful insights for parents. I’m a child of the late 70s & have tried hard to empower my own kids by giving them intentional freedoms & responsibilities while balancing that with what we know now about parenting as well as the actual world we live in. Easier said than done. I’m curious- when did you grow up & what have you learned raising kids?

Did less supervision make kids stronger? Research links independence in childhood to better emotional resilience later

Busy isn’t the same as healthy.

Many kids aren’t struggling because they’re lazy - they’re overloaded 🚚😩

If your child seems irritable, emotional, or “not coping,” it might be stress, not defiance.

Let’s talk about how to lower the load, not raise the pressure.
