Think your toothbrush can clean everything? Think again!
Check out this video on this young patient who never cleaned before. See that specialized tool? It’s an ultrasonic scaler doing a job your toothbrush literally cannot do.
Here's why you still need a professional clean:
The 48-Hour Rule
* Plaque is the soft, sticky bacteria you brush away daily.
* If plaque sits for just 24 to 72 hours, minerals in your saliva harden it like concrete.
* Once it hardens, it becomes Calculus (Tartar).
You cannot brush or scrape tartar off at home. It chemically bonds to your teeth. Trying to scrub it off will only damage your enamel and irritate your gums.
If you leave it there:
* 🩸 Gums bleed and swell (Gingivitis)
* 😷 Chronic bad breath kicks in
* 📉 You risk long-term bone and tooth loss
Brushing keeps plaque down, but routine dental cleans clear out the hard stuff before it causes trouble.
Has it been more than 6 months since your last clean?
