DCMH would like to proudly acknowledge the outstanding work of our Social Worker, Samukelisiwe Mhlongo, for her dedication and commitment in supporting clients through Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Psychosocial Support interventions. Through the therapeutic process, the focus was placed on building trust, safety, healing, and resilience. During intervention sessions, the client shared experiences of struggling to trust others, difficulty forming new relationships, and feelings of disappointment after becoming emotionally attached to people. The client also expressed preferring isolation and spending most of her time alone outside of work.
With continuous psychosocial support, the client was able to openly express her emotions and reflect on her life journey in a safe and supportive environment. One of the most inspiring outcomes of this intervention was the clientโs decision to write and publish a book aimed at encouraging and motivating young people who may be facing similar life challenges. Her story is a powerful reminder that background and upbringing do not determine oneโs future. Young people can still achieve their dreams despite difficult circumstances.
The published author, Alulutho Majali, encourages everyone to support the movement and be inspired by the book.
Books are available immediately at R200 each.
