Q20 a favourite for rehabilitation professionals 👨‍🦼

During our outreach to KwaZulu-Natal, the rehab teams were thrilled to see the can of Q20 in our Bags of Hope.

Lubricating your wheelchair is essential to a smooth ride and the can of Q20 will greatly enable the mobility of people who are newly injured.

Thank you to Q20 for their sponsorship!

🤝 Thriving Peer Support Network in Manguzi 🥳

During our visit to Manguzi, the team had the privilege of engaging the Peer Support group in Manguzi.

Well done to all the peer supporters for their hard work on engaging the community, thank you to the community for welcoming QASA and for their insights.

We hope to bring much needed support and resources to the community to empower these peer supporters to do even greater work!

Reigniting partnership with Manguzi 🤝

The final stop of the KwaZulu-Natal Outreach was Manguzi Hospital where the team were able to share resources and gain incredible insights into the challenges facing wheelchair users in this area from very sandy roads and inaccessible pit toilets to a lack of resources and little to no running water on homesteads.

It was wonderful to see how resilient and engaged the community is despite the challenges!

A big thank you to the rehabilitation team for welcoming us, sharing their insights and showing us around the community.

With the renewed partnership, we aim to help empower the community even more!

♿ Accessibility Changes Lives! 💙

Through QASA's Accessible Homes Project, we recently assisted member Amber Xena Nel with the construction of wheelchair-accessible ramps and railings at her home.

Amber shared:
"Thank you to QASA and all the partners involved for your prompt assistance. Our home is now wheelchair friendly, and I am able to access my room, the toilet, the driveway, and many other areas with far greater ease. Your service was amazing, and I highly recommend QASA. 10/10!"

QASA is proud to help create safer, more accessible homes that promote independence, dignity, and freedom for persons with disabilities.

Partnering with Hlabisa Hospital 🤝

The team visited Hlabisa Hospital during their KwaZulu-Natal Outreach.

We were able to gain valuable insights into the challenges facing the hospital and wheelchair users in the area.

In turn, we shared our resources with the team and established a strong partnership, which will help more people with spinal cord injuries live their lives to their full potential in the area.

Thank you to the Hlabisa team for welcoming QASA, sharing their insights and for their willingness to partner with the organisation.

🏥 Meeting the Ngwelezana Hospital and Queen Nandi Hospital team 👨‍🦼

The KwaZulu-Natal Outreach took the team to the town of Empangeni to meet with the rehab team at Ngwelezana Hospital and Queen Nandi Hospital.

They were able to share key insights into the struggles facing wheelchair users in the regions.

🫶 Visiting Nuture Ilembe 👨‍🦽

With our Outreach to KwaZulu-Natal last week, we stopped by Nuture Ilembe with which QASA has a long-standing relationship.

We took the opportunity to share information about the organisation, distribute resources and enquire about any challenges that the rehab team might be facing.

A big thank you to Nuture Ilembe for welcoming the team, for their insights, and their continued support of the organisation and the work that it does.

We look forward to many more years of partnership to help empower quadriplegics and paraplegics.
