Most people think grief begins at the funeral. ⚰️⚱️

Anyone who has watched someone they love slowly disappear, to illness, to age, to a mind that no longer remembers their name, knows that grief starts long before that day arrives.

💔 It lives in the small moments.
The conversation that used to be easy and now isn't. The person who looks the same but feels different. The future you quietly stopped planning together.

It is one of the loneliest feelings there is, because the world around you does not yet understand what you are losing. People may even wonder why you are grieving at all, or become frustrated that you are grieving before the actual loss. That confusion is normal. What you are feeling is real 🙏

Grief counsellors remind us that saying goodbye does not mean you have to stop loving. 🪔 It does not mean giving up. In fact, many people find that this season, as painful as it is, becomes a time to hold memories more intentionally. To protect what will never die, even when the person is changing.
