This Mandela Day, I participated in the Child Welfare Durban and District Radiothon, to assist in raising funds for the Lakehaven Child and Youth Care Centre- a facility that houses 28 children between the ages of 5 and 18.

In total I raised over R12000 between friends, family, neighbours and patients.

I’ve also volunteered medical assistance to the children at the home.

A good cause

As a GP I am privileged to walk alongside my patients and their families through some of life’s most challenging and meaningful moments. I was deeply touched to receive this beautiful painting and heartfelt note from the family of a patient I had the honour of caring for. Their words of gratitude were incredibly moving, but what resonated most was the reminder that medicine is about so much more than diagnoses and treatments - it’s about compassion and connection. It serves as a daily reminder of the trust patients place in me and the privilege of caring for individuals and families across generations.

To all my patients and their families - thank you 🙏
