If you are pregnant and hoping to breastfeed, it can help to start preparing mentally, emotionally, and physically before your baby arrives.
Preparation may include learning about latching, understanding milk supply, asking questions during pregnancy, and knowing where to get support after birth.
It is also important to prepare your mind for flexibility. Sometimes breastfeeding goes smoothly, and sometimes plans need to change. You may need to express, combination feed, supplement, or choose another feeding option and that does not mean you have failed.
We encourage expecting mothers to ask questions, prepare as much as possible, and remember that every feeding journey is different.
