The Moko Sports Foundation hosted its annual Easter Sports Festival from 3 to 6 April 2026, with a primary objective of promoting and strengthening rural sports development. The event brought together rugby, netball, and cricket teams from across South Africa, providing a platform for competitive sport, talent identification, and community engagement.
The festival was characterised by a high level of participation and competitive performance, underscoring the role of organized sporting events in fostering social cohesion and youth development in underserved communities.
Synergy Biomed Research Institute (SBRI) participated as a sponsor, supporting the broader developmental objectives of the initiative. During the event, the Chairperson and Founder of the Moko Sports Foundation, Mr Siyabulela Moko, formally acknowledged SBRI’s continued support of the festival, as well as its contributions to scientific capacity building within the Eastern Cape Province.
