🌍 SBRI AT AIDS 2026 | RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL 🇧🇷
The 26th International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2026) was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and virtually from 26–31 July 2026, under the theme “Rethink. Rebuild. Rise.”

The conference brought together global leaders, researchers, healthcare professionals and communities to discuss the global HIV funding crisis, scientific innovation, long-acting HIV prevention and treatment, human rights, and community-led action.

SBRI was proudly represented by our Principal Investigators, Dr Dlodlo, Dr Moelo and our former Head of Community Engagement Amanda Mzamo who attended the conference and engaged with the latest developments in HIV and TB research and global health.

Their participation provided an important opportunity for knowledge exchange, collaboration and strengthening SBRI’s commitment to advancing biomedical research and improving health outcomes in our communities.

Exiting milestone in tuberculosis vaccine research!
SBRI (Synergy Biomed Research Institute) is proud to be part of the Phase 2b IMAGINE clinical trial evaluating the promising TB vaccine candidate, MTBVAC. With the study now reaching full enrolment, we celebrate the dedication of our participants, research teams, and partners who are helping advance the fight against tuberculosis. Read more below.👇

IMAGINE, a large-scale safety and efficacy trial, is evaluating MTBVAC in adults and adolescents to address the world’s deadliest infectious disease.

Our SBRI team recently attended the 9th South African Tuberculosis (TB) Conference in Gauteng, alongside two Department of Health officials, under the theme:

"Vuka! Let's Unite Towards a TB-Free World!"

The conference brought together researchers, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and community stakeholders committed to advancing efforts to end TB in South Africa and across Africa. We are proud to contribute to research that strengthens healthcare outcomes and supports the journey towards a TB-free future.
