Many patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) use ‘ma*****na’ for disease-related symptoms. Data regarding reasons for usage, impact and perceptions on its effects is lacking. 108 participants recruited from University of Florida (UF) IBD clinic. Participants were 47.2% male and 51.9% female. Patient characteristics are compared among three reasons of ‘ma*****na’ use (Recreational, Medical and Combination).

There was a notable shift in reasons for use with both age and duration of IBD diagnosis: recreational use is more common among younger patients and those with a shorter duration of IBD diagnosis, medical use becomes predominant in middle-aged patients and those with an intermediate duration of diagnosis and combination use increases among older patients and those with the longest duration of IBD diagnosis.

Comparisons are also conducted based on the frequency of ‘ma*****na’ usage. Associations were found between ‘ma*****na’ use frequency and symptom relief. Daily or near-daily ‘ma*****na’ use was associated with self-reported relief of nausea/vomiting (82.1%), arthralgias (81%) and insomnia (80%).

Additionally, ‘ma*****na’ use was linked to an improved ability to live independently with current employment. Patients with a history of bowel surgery were more likely to report ‘ma*****na’ use lasting longer than five years and using at least once weekly. Notably, 59.3% of respondents believed ‘ma*****na’ use had reduced their opioid consumption.

When asked how ‘ma*****na’ use affected their ability to live independently, 61.3% of participants reported “improved”. Similarly, 87.6% respondents reported improvement in their quality of life with ‘ma*****na’ use.

Conclusions: ‘Ma*****na’ can be helpful for symptom control and reducing the reliance on pharmaceuticals and may improve quality of life in patients with IBD. Participants demonstrated good insight regarding the role of ‘ma*****na’ in the management of their disease.

📢📢📢📢Acupuncture vs Dry Needling – Understanding the Difference

🔥One of the most common misconceptions is that acupuncture and dry needling are the same treatment. Although both use fine sterile needles, they are based on fundamentally different philosophies, training pathways, and treatment approaches.

🔥Acupuncture is a complete medical system that has been practised for thousands of years and is founded on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Chinese Medicine Physicians assess the patient using TCM diagnostic principles and select acupuncture points along specific meridians and collateral channels to restore the flow of Qi, balance Yin and Yang, and address the underlying cause of disease—not merely the symptoms. Acupuncture is used both to treat illness and to help prevent disease by restoring physiological balance.

Dry needling, in contrast, is a technique commonly used by some physiotherapists, chiropractors, and other healthcare professionals (depending on local regulations). It primarily targets myofascial trigger points within muscles to relieve pain, reduce muscle tension, and improve movement. It is based on modern musculoskeletal anatomy and neurophysiology rather than Traditional Chinese Medicine theory.

🔥Many systematic reviews demonstrate positive outcomes for acupuncture across a broad range of conditions, including chronic pain, migraines, osteoarthritis, nausea, insomnia, anxiety, and other disorders. While dry needling can be effective for certain musculoskeletal conditions, the evidence base generally focuses on trigger point therapy rather than the broader systemic effects associated with traditional acupuncture.

🔥As Chinese Medicine Physicians, our training extends far beyond the insertion of needles. We study Traditional Chinese Medicine theory, meridians and collaterals, acupuncture point functions, herbal medicine, diagnosis, and holistic patient management, allowing us to individualise treatment according to each patient's unique pattern of imbalance.

🔥Healing is not simply about relieving pain—it is about restoring balance to the whole person.

Holistic Healing Dr Gallow
📢📢We are thrilled to share the latest progress in one of our patients diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer.

Her recent scan has shown encouraging results:
• Tumour size has reduced from 10 mm to 5 mm.
• Tumour marker CA153 has decreased and now within the normal range.

Her journey is a testament to the power of commitment, resilience, and a comprehensive, patient-centred approach. She has remained dedicated to her treatment protocol, adhered to her prescribed medications, followed a carefully designed nutritional programme, and embraced every step of her healing journey with incredible determination.

Despite facing many obstacles along the way, she never gave up. She has also been surrounded by an outpouring of love, encouragement, and support from those around her, reminding us all that healing extends beyond medicine alone.

We are immensely proud of her progress and honoured to be part of her journey. While there is still a road ahead, today we celebrate this important milestone and remain hopeful for what lies ahead.

Shared with the patient's permission. Every patient's journey is unique, and individual outcomes may vary.

As I return home after more than a month of travelling across the globe, speaking at prestigious international cannabis conferences, I feel incredibly grateful. Every journey has been an opportunity to learn, to share knowledge, and to meet some of the most inspiring people in medicine, research, and patient advocacy.

Then, on my final day in beautiful Lake Tahoe, I received news that made this journey even more unforgettable—I received full and final acceptance of my third PhD thesis. 🔥A pass by all 3 international examiners 😬

This doctorate has been, without question, the hardest of them all.

Not because of the academic requirements, but because of the topic itself.

My research explored one of the most controversial areas in medicine, becoming the first PhD to compare three real-world patient groups to treat Prostate Cancer:
• Chemotherapy alone (control)
• Medical cannabis alone
• Medical cannabis combined with chemotherapy

The journey was anything but easy.

It took two years to obtain ethics approval.

It took one year to find supervisors willing to support a topic that many were reluctant to touch. After countless rejections, I was blessed to find three extraordinary supervisors who believed in both me and the vision.

Along the way there were obstacles I never expected—including attempts to derail my work. Ironically, some came from within the cannabis industry itself. It was disappointing, but it taught me an invaluable lesson: stay focused on the science, not the noise.

There were many moments over the past five years when I wondered whether I could continue. Only my husband truly witnessed the sacrifices, the sleepless nights, the self-doubt, and the tears behind the scenes. People often celebrate the success, but rarely see the journey that made it possible.

This year has been another milestone, as I also began my studies to become a Chinese Medicine Physician, continuing my lifelong commitment to integrating evidence-based medicine with holistic healing.

🙏I stand humbled and deeply honoured as I prepare to graduate with my third PhD. More importantly, I hope this research contributes to advancing evidence-based cannabinoid medicine and, ultimately, improving the lives of patients around the world.

To everyone who supported me—thank you.

To those who doubted me—you made me stronger.

To my supervisors, colleagues, family, patients, and especially my husband—thank you for believing in me when the road seemed impossible.

I thank God for giving me the strength to persevere. I truly believe that my calling is to heal, to teach, and to continue producing research that changes lives.

So... I suppose you can officially call me Doctor, Doctor, Doctor. 🤣😄🎓🎓🎓

The journey continues.🌿🙏🔥 This one is for the cannabis industry, the genuine ones 😬🌿🙏🔥
