Breastfeeding is natural, but that doesn't always mean it comes easily. 🤍

As a lactation consultant, one of the most common things I hear from mommies is: "I just don't know if what I'm experiencing is normal."

So here are 5 signs your baby may need a little extra feeding support — swipe through 👉

It doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong. It just means it might be time for an extra pair of hands (and eyes) to help you both feel more confident at every feed.

If any of this feels familiar, you don't have to figure it out alone. Send me a message or book a session & let's get you and baby feeling at ease.

As a lactation consultant, I've held so many of you through the tears, the bad latches, the "is this even working" moments.

As a speech therapist, I know just how much those feeds are doing for your little one's growth beyond just the nutrition - it is for them.

And as a mommy myself, I've lived it too: the doubt, the exhaustion, the 3am questioning everything.

So today this isn't just professional advice, it's from my heart to yours: you are doing better than you think. However this feeding journey looks for you, you are enough, and so is your baby. 🤍

🚩 "Let's just wait and see" is advice a lot of parents hear, but when it comes to speech and language waiting can cost precious time and a huge gap in your child's growing and interacting abilities.

Early intervention works because the brain is most flexible in the first few years of life, and small delays are often easier to fix and respond to and help your child close the gap.

Mom/Dad - you are not overreacting and you are not to overprotective, you have a responsibility as a parent to see and help your child grow, learn and achieve to their best ability and if you feel that you might need a little help with that, that is exactly why speech therapists exist.

Reach out to a speech therapist if your child:
🔹 Isn't babbling by 9-12 months
🔹 Has no words by 15-18 months
🔹 Isn't combining words by age 2
🔹 Is hard to understand by family members past age 3
🔹 Seems frustrated when trying to communicate
🔹 Loses words/skills they used to have
🔹 Isn't responding consistently to their name or sounds

You don't need a referral to ask questions. You don't need to "wait and see" to get an evaluation. Trust your gut you know your child best. 🤍An assessment doesn't mean something is "wrong." It means you're giving your child every tool to thrive.

📌 Save & share this for a parent who needs to hear it.

Reading time doesn't have to feel like a test 📖💛

If you've ever felt pressure to get through every page, ask the "right" questions or make sure your toddler is paying attention then I just want to tell you: you're not alone.

But here's the secret: connection matters more than perfection.
Swipe through for some simple do's and don'ts to make reading time playful, pressure-free, and packed with language-building moments without it feeling like a lesson and actually making it a fun enjoyable experience for your toddler and you as well.

Your toddler doesn't need a perfect reader. They need YOU, present and engaged. That's where the magic (and the language growth) happens. ✨

Social skills aren't taught, they're practiced and learnt from experiences. 🧠
Reading faces, taking turns, handling big feelings: these are all learned through real, back-and-forth human interaction your child actually sees or learns from you or others.

And here's the truth most parents don't realise: heavy screen time doesn't just limit these opportunities it quietly crowds them out and before no time you actually start wondering "why is my child not interacting?"

The less time spent with real people = the less practice your child gets building the social and emotional skills they'll carry for life.

💬 Save this if it resonated with you and share it with a parent who needs to hear it.

Confidence isn't something we teach after the academics, it's what makes the academics possible. 🌸

A child who feels confident to speak up, ask questions, and try (even when they might get it wrong) is a child who's ready to learn.

Confidence in the classroom often starts with confidence in communication. When a child struggles to find the right words, be understood, or keep up with a conversation, they don't just stay quiet about that, they often start to stay quiet about everything else too.

That's why building strong communication skills early isn't just a "speech thing." It's a confidence thing. A classroom-participation thing. A raising-your-hand-even-when-you're-not-100%-sure thing.

Help your child find their voice, and you help them find their confidence then the rest tends to follow. 🤍

Did you know Grade R isn't just about colouring in and circle time? 👀
It's actually one of the most important years for your child's speech and language development & quietly laying the groundwork for everything that comes after.

This is the year children develop:
✔️ Language & listening skills
✔️ Vocabulary
✔️ Phonological awareness
✔️ Early literacy concepts

Here's the part I wish more parents knew: if there's a gap at this stage, it rarely stays small. It tends to grow and starts showing up later as a struggle with reading, spelling, or writing and their educational journey.

But it also works the other way. Catch it early, support it well, and you set your child up for years of confident learning ahead.

📌 So if something feels a little off a sound they're not saying yet, words that don't come easily, or listening that seems harder than it should be trust that instinct. It's always worth a conversation. 💬

Four years ago, I started a business based on faith, a passion, and a dream.

Here's a little bit of the story behind how wHorx Speech Therapy was born, and what my vision, mission, and goals are as a Speech & Language Therapist and Lactation Consultant.

It started with a name that means more than most people realise. The "H" is for Hannah (a woman who prayed for the impossible, and was met with favour and grace). The Cross sits at the centre of it all, because he really is at the centre of my life and everything belongs to Him. "worx" reminds me that faith without action is dead (James 2:26). And the Oleander flower (meaning grace) that's the beauty in growth itself in watching each client grow and reaching their goals.

My vision has always been to grow and to reach people in a way that makes a real difference in their lives. My mission is to touch as many lives as I can through this profession and to let every one of those lives be touched by God's love and grace along the way.

So when I think about who wHorx is really for, I think of:
▪️The new mommy up at 3am, wondering why the latch still hurts.
▪️The mommy watching her toddler point instead of speak.
▪️The granny relearning words because of a stroke.
▪️The parent lying awake, just wanting to know their child will catch up.

If that's you: I see you and I'm here to guide you one step at a time. 🤍
with love, Nadia

Does your little one get frustrated when they can't quite get the words out? 💬You're not alone and it doesn't mean anything is "wrong" with your child. It just means they might need a little extra support to unlock their voice.

Speech therapy isn't just about "fixing" how a child talks. It's about:
▪️ Giving them the words to ask for what they need.
▪️ Helping them feel heard.
▪️ Building the confidence to speak up in a classroom, at a birthday party, or with a new friend.
▪️ Turning frustration into connection.
Every child communicates differently, and every small win or a new word, a clearer sound, a full sentence is worth celebrating. 🎉

If you've been wondering whether speech therapy could help your child, that instinct is worth listening to. Early support makes a real difference.
