Whether you wear scrubs, a hard hat, or a blazer, your work builds South Africa.

As a GP, we see firsthand how every profession keeps our communities healthy and strong. From the nurses in our wards, to the builders who construct our clinics, to the professionals who keep business moving.

To every worker in South Africa: thank you for your contribution.

Happy Labour Day 🇿🇦

Freedom Day reminds us: democracy and dignity go hand in hand.

As healthcare providers, we honour Freedom Day by fighting for every patient’s right to respectful, quality care. Because true freedom includes the freedom to be healthy, to choose, and to be treated with compassion.

To a free and healthy South Africa.

Happy Freedom Day from Dr Nontokozo Sithole Inc. 🇿🇦

South Africa has received its first shipment of Lenacapavir, with close to 38,000 doses of the new HIV prevention medicine arriving in the country.

The six-monthly injectable is expected to help people who struggle to access or stick to existing prevention methods, especially vulnerable groups such as young women, s*x workers and men who have s*x with men.

The Department of Health says Lenacapavir is preventive medicine, not a vaccine, and plans to announce a phased rollout in the coming weeks.

Health authorities believe the long-acting injection could help cut new HIV infections and support South Africa’s goal of ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030.

As we conclude TB Awareness Week, we stand united in the fight against tuberculosis, inspired by the 2026 World TB Day theme ‘Yes! We can end TB!’ 🎗️💪 Let’s keep the momentum going and ensure every community knows the facts, takes action, and stays hopeful that we can turn the tide on the TB pandemic.

Symptoms of TB (Tuberculosis):
1. Persistent cough lasting more than 2–3 weeks (may produce sputum or blood).
2. Unexplained weight loss.
3. Night sweats and fever.
4. Fatigue or general weakness.
5. Chest pain or discomfort when breathing or coughing.
6. Loss of appetite.

What to do if you suspect TB:
1. Seek medical attention immediately from a healthcare professional or clinic.
2. Get screened with a TB test (e.g., sputum smear, chest X‑ray, or molecular test).
3. If diagnosed, complete the full course of prescribed anti‑TB medication exactly as directed.
4. Inform close contacts so they can also be screened and protected.
5. Follow infection‑control practices (e.g., covering mouth when coughing, improving ventilation).
