A mining disaster claimed more than 200 lives.

Behind that number are people who left for work and did not return home.

Parents. Colleagues. Friends. Someone’s family member.

A source whose cousin died in the landslide expressed shock, saying it was "a big loss" for the family and community.

"I didn't believe he could pass away in such circumstances," the source, who did not wish to be named, told the BBC, describing his cousin as a "courageous" and "ambitious" man whose main goal was to provide for his wife and two children. In high-risk environments, incidents like this escalate in minutes - and what happens next depends entirely on what is already in place on-site.

Every site faces the same question:

If this happened here, would your company be able to respond in time?

ATA helps close this gap through end-to-end emergency services, including integrated on-site medical staffing, rescue capability, emergency planning and rapid response readiness built for high-risk environments.

Every workplace fatality leaves more than an empty position. It leaves behind families waiting for someone who will never come home, colleagues carrying the weight of what happened, and businesses facing the consequences of a tragedy that may have been preventable.

In high-risk and remote environments, every minute matters. Delayed medical intervention can mean the difference between a close call and a fatal outcome, while also exposing organisations to operational shutdowns, investigations, financial losses and reputational damage.

ATA's Integrated Medical & Rescue Solutions place trained medical and rescue professionals, equipment and emergency response systems directly on site, ensuring help is available when every second counts.

📍When lives are on the line, "we'll deal with it when it happens" is not an emergency response plan. Speak to ATA today.

Quality, consistency and accountability remain at the core of how we operate at ATA.

Tasneem, ATA’s Operations Manager and ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor, shares insight into our ISO certification and what it represents for our systems, standards and commitment to delivering reliable medical and rescue solutions across all sites.

ISO certification is more than a compliance requirement - it is a globally recognised framework that ensures our processes are structured, measurable and continuously improved. It strengthens quality control, enhances operational consistency across different sites, and ensures that every service delivered meets strict international standards.

This level of governance is critical in high-risk and remote environments, where reliability, safety and clear systems directly impact outcomes on the ground.

On Global Accessibility Awareness Day, it’s important to recognise that emergency preparedness must consider the needs of every individual on site.

In high-risk and remote environments, response plans should account for mobility, sensory and medical considerations to ensure that everyone can be evacuated, treated and supported effectively during an incident.

When accessibility is overlooked, response times may be delayed and critical risks can increase.
Inclusive emergency planning helps organisations strengthen preparedness, improve response capability and better protect their workforce.

ATA supports clients with tailored medical and rescue solutions, emergency planning and site assessments designed to ensure that no one is overlooked when it matters most.

Is your emergency response plan built to protect everyone on site?

If your answer is no, get in touch with Dion to find out more about assessing your site readiness.

In many operational environments, the biggest risk isn’t just the incident itself - it’s the time between the incident and the response.

Without qualified medical professionals on-site, teams may face delays in care, uncertainty in how to respond, and increased pressure in high-stress situations. This gap can lead to incidents escalating, prolonged downtime and greater risk to personnel.

Paramedics and on-site medical professionals play a critical role in bridging this gap.

They provide:
- Immediate medical intervention when incidents occur
- Ongoing monitoring and early identification of potential risks
- Structured, confident decision-making under pressure
- Support for safer day-to-day operations

Their presence ensures that care is not delayed, risks are managed proactively, and your workforce is supported by professionals trained to act when it matters most.

Ensure your site is supported by professionals who bring care, control and confidence to every situation.

Prevention is often viewed as policies, procedures and compliance - but in reality, it is driven by what happens on the ground every day.

On-site medical and rescue professionals play a critical role in preventing incidents before they occur. Through continuous monitoring, early identification of risks and immediate intervention when needed, they help reduce the likelihood of situations escalating into serious events.

Their presence also strengthens overall site awareness, supports safer behaviours and ensures that potential issues are addressed proactively rather than reactively.

ATA provides experienced on-site professionals who contribute not only to emergency response, but to ongoing risk reduction and operational readiness.

Strengthen your site with professionals who help prevent incidents - not just respond to them.
