What a remarkable few days down in the Mother City. 😎

It's been a blast talking to runners and hanging out with the amazing in Hout Bay!

I flew into CT on Saturday and had an epic experience engaging with runners of all backgrounds and skill levels as we tackled the ins-and-outs of the mental side of

Generously supported by and hosted by (the delicious) , this was a first of it's kind event where theory, applied practice, and mental skills came together in a unique workshop and workbook event aimed at promoting mental skills, a passion for running, and mental health. 🙌🏽

It was SO much fun connecting with like-minded and enthusiastic runners who were eager to share their own experiences of the highs and lows of running. 🏃‍♂️

I can't wait to return for another iteration of this unique event concept that will surely change how we enjoy and share our love for getting out there, hitting the trails and tar all around this truly beautiful country of ours! 🇿🇦

A MASSIVE thanks to and .i.c.k_g for the passion, hard work, and late nights, while juggling work, marathons, jetlag, families, and extreme Adulting. You guys are a community sports inspiration ❤️‍🔥

We finished (this round) STRONG, and I can't wait to keep going BEYOND the line, for bigger, better, and more impact 💥

We'll see y'all at the next event! 🏃‍♀️ 🏅

October is Mental Health Awareness Month in South Africa, and we would love to invite you to join us for an interactive workshop for this very special time.

“Finishing Strong, Beyond the Line.” is a free workshop where we will unpack the highs and lows of the race experience in a safe space with Counselling & Sports Psychologist, Greg Wilmot, with support from Clinical Psychologist, Nick Groll.

Participants will leave with a special workbook from the session, which will cover the topics discussed.

The morning will start with an easy 5km recovery trot through Hout Bay with the very best pastries and coffee from South Yeaster prior to the session. And yes, there will be further snacks on offer for you throughout the morning. 🥹

🗓️: Sunday, 27 October
⏰: 08:00 - 11:00
📍: South Yeaster Bakery, Hout Bay

“Finishing Strong, Beyond the Line.” is an initiative that is supported and helped to make possible thanks to the folks at .❤️‍🔥

We have very limited spots available for this event, and the form will close once we reach capacity.

With hustle and teamwork, the booklet for attendees is coming together really nicely! We are really excited to share this meaningful experience with you.

As always, COMMUNITY TRACK CLUB LOVES YOU. ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

The professionalisation of school sport in South Africa - Part 23:
vii) Highly specialised training programs and pre-season conditioning

As the performance demands on young sportsmen and women have increased, so has the need for pre-season training, specialised conditioning and specialised nutrition to meet the calorific needs of these young athletes.

Undeniably, as the performance demands and physical challenges of school sport increase, it is extremely important that young sportsmen and women’s bodies are able to meet these demands while also needing to mitigate injury. This makes conditioning and training with the input of well qualified professionals such as Physiotherapists or Bokineticists necessary. However, there are important questions to ask such as; what is an acceptable threshold of training demands to place on young athletes? How much training is detrimental to academic and personal wellness?

The professionalisation of school sport in South Africa - Part 22:
The need for such a charter or declaration speaks to a highly professionalised context that mirrors the need for agreements, rules and oversights to ensure equitable practices in the trading or transferring of professional athletes between clubs or franchises. Further, this also begs the question about the impact on the lived experiences of young sportsmen and women at the heart of trading and poaching.
