This morning I hosted my very first live webinar 🌿

And I just wanted to say thank you.

Thank you to everyone who registered, joined live, watched quietly, asked questions, and shared your reflections.

We had registrations from South Africa, the Netherlands, the United States and beyond — and many of you were completely new to me, which made this extra special.

Today we explored how sensory patterns may influence stress, energy, habits, preferences and everyday life — and why sometimes…

you’re not broken.
it may be a sensory mismatch.

If you missed the live session, replay access is still available for a limited time.

And registrations for Sensory Rebalance are now officially open.

🌿 6-week guided online programme
🌿 Sensory Matrix™ assessment included
🌿 Practical sensory strategies
🌿 Starts Thursday 18 June

Maybe it isn't laziness.

Maybe it's overload.

There was a time in my life when I thought procrastination meant I wasn't disciplined enough, motivated enough, or trying hard enough.

But what I've learned is that sometimes procrastination isn't laziness at all.

Sometimes our nervous system is carrying more than we realise.

Stress can amplify sensory sensitivities, make decisions feel heavier, and turn simple tasks into something that feels impossible to start.

That doesn't mean you're broken.

Sometimes your system simply needs support.

🌿 This is one of the things we'll touch on in my free live webinar:

You're Not Broken – It Might Be a Sensory Mismatch

📍 Live on Zoom

A free sensory quiz is included.

If you can't attend live, register anyway and I'll send the replay afterwards.

There was a season in my life when everything felt like too much.

I was constantly tired, easily overwhelmed, and it felt as though I was always trying to catch up. I thought I just needed to try harder, be more organised, or push through.

What I didn't realize at the time was that my nervous system was working incredibly hard just to keep up with the demands around me.

Learning about sensory processing and understanding my own sensory needs gave me a completely different perspective. It helped me understand why certain environments drained me, why some activities restored me, and why what worked for other people didn't always work for me.

That understanding didn't solve everything overnight.

But it gave me a place to start.

Sometimes what looks like laziness, lack of motivation, irritability or poor coping is actually a nervous system that needs support.

🌿 If you'd like to understand your own sensory style, I'm hosting a free live webinar on 4 June:

You're Not Broken – It Might Be a Sensory Mismatch

A free sensory quiz is included before the webinar.

If you can't attend live, a replay will also be available afterwards.

Why does one person love a busy market while another person can't wait to leave?

Why does one person thrive on change and variety while another prefers routine and predictability?

We often assume that people should respond to situations in the same way we do. But the reality is that we all experience and process the world differently.

These differences can influence our preferences, habits, relationships, stress levels and even the environments where we function best.

Understanding your sensory style can provide valuable insight into why certain situations energize you while others leave you feeling depleted.

🌿 If you'd like to understand your own sensory style, I'm hosting a free live webinar on 4 June called:

You're Not Broken – It Might Be a Sensory Mismatch

Have you ever called yourself lazy because you just couldn't get started?

Maybe you've put off a task for days, struggled to focus, or felt frustrated with yourself because you knew what needed to be done but couldn't seem to begin.

What if laziness isn't actually the problem?

Sometimes procrastination is a sign of overwhelm.

When our nervous systems are overloaded, even simple tasks can feel harder to start.

This doesn't mean we don't care. It doesn't mean we're not capable. It may simply mean our systems need something different.

I'm hosting a free live webinar on 4 June:
🌿 You're Not Broken – It Might Be a Sensory Mismatch

We'll explore why people experience the same environments so differently and how sensory processing can influence stress, focus, relationships and daily life.

Most people think nervous system regulation means meditation, deep breathing, or sitting still.

Those can help.

But sometimes the real shift comes from changing your environment, pacing, transitions, movement, routines, and how you structure your day.

Sometimes regulation isn’t what you do for five minutes.
It’s how you live.

🌿 Hi, I’m Karlien — an Occupational Therapist passionate about sensory regulation and helping people understand their nervous system in practical, real-life ways.

I also run Sensory Rebalance, a 6-week online programme designed to help you feel calmer, clearer, and more in control again.

Hi, I’m Karlien 🌿

and I help people understand their nervous system so they can feel more calm, balanced, and in control again.

One of the most beautiful shifts from the last Sensory Rebalance programme was hearing this…

“My home now feels like a sanctuary.”

This came after she started making small changes to her environment — based on what actually supports her.

Not big changes.
Not a complete overhaul.

Just small, intentional shifts.

Because when your environment starts working with you…

things begin to settle.

Your mind feels clearer.
There’s less noise.
Less overwhelm.

And you don’t have to force that —
it naturally follows.
