We would love to introduce Dr Friedrich von Horsten to our community as a compassionate GP with a love for helping people.

He completed his MB, ChB at Stellenbosch in 2007 and completed his internship & community service years in Port Elizabeth and East London, where he also did 2 years of Internal Medicine in the Eastern Cape.

Dr Fred, as we know him, worked in a variety of primary & emergency care roles for multinational companies around the globe, including Russia, Madagascar, Indonesia and Papua, New Guinea.

He enjoys volunteer work and spent time in Iraq, Uganda and even Greece doing medical volunteer work in the past.

He was also the medical officer with CHAD that managed their Corona Virus response during the pandemic in 2020 & 2021 🩺

Dr Fred completed his Masters in Infectious Diseases through the University of London in 2021 and also completed additional coursework in Emergency Medicine. He is currently busy with his Diploma in Epidemiology 👊

We are privileged to welcome him to the Grootbrak Medical Centre where he will undoubtedly contribute to the quality care of our patients.

Help us share World Prostate Cancer Day today to raise awareness about the disease and promote early diagnosis.

The prostate is a small gland in males that makes fluid for semen. Because it is a male-only gland, this disease only affects men.

👤1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.
👤Age 50+ is the highest risk bracket.
👤Family history of the disease increases your risk.
👤Black men have double the risk and are often diagnosed at a younger age.
👤Early stages usually show no symptoms.

Prostate cancer is not always life-threatening. When caught early, the chances of successful recovery are very high.

Periodic screening and health testing can save lives.
Screening typically involves a simple blood test called a PSA test (Prostate-Specific Antigen).

We're calling on you to help us celebrate World Blood Donor Day this weekend!

This Saturday, 13 June, the Western Cape Blood Services are aiming to collect 1,000 blood donations across the Western Cape, ahead of World Blood Donor Day on 14 June.

Pop in and donate blood between 09:00 and 15:00 at any of these participating malls:

Libery Promenade
N1 City Mall
Table Bay Mall
Tyger Valley Shopping Centre
Capegate Shopping Centre
Somerset Mall
Whale Coast Mall

We are just sooooooo excited about our expansion here in our small town, where we have served the community since 2020 😷🤕🤒

Our practice now has a second location near the police station as you enter from the N2. 📍

This location now hosts dr Odelia Tait, very well known from our main branch that will now be located at 97 Long street going forward.

This new space is also shared with our local dr Christine du Plessis (from Chirologik in Mossel Bay - contact nr for bookings - 0678895948) as well as dr Greyling Viljoen (Clinical & Sport ) 🤸‍♂️
