WOMEN’S MONTH MESSAGE | EMPOWERED WOMEN, HEALTHIER COMMUNITIES
As we celebrate Women’s Month, we salute the remarkable women and young women who continue to break barriers, challenge limitations and forge ahead despite the remnants of male domination that still exist across many sectors of society.
The future is indeed bright.
Education remains one of the most powerful tools of empowerment. Once attained, education is something no one can take away from you. It opens doors to opportunities, economic independence, informed choices and a better future for generations to come.
But as women embrace the opportunities that education and independence bring, we must also prioritise our health.
The growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including diabetes and hypertension, continues to affect women, families and communities across the world. These silent killers often progress unnoticed, making awareness, regular health screening and early detection critically important.
Our message this Women’s Month is simple:
Diabetes and hypertension are not a death sentence. Know your numbers. Get screened. Take charge of your health.
And let us remember that wellbeing goes beyond physical health. Mental, emotional and spiritual health are equally important. Women carry many responsibilities as mothers, daughters, sisters, professionals, caregivers, leaders and pillars of their communities. We cannot pour from an empty cup.
As we celebrate the achievements of women who have paved the way and encourage the generation rising behind them, let us continue to lift one another, support one another and fix each other’s crowns.
When one woman rises, she should create room for another to rise with her.
May this Women’s Month inspire us to build a generation of women who are educated, empowered, healthy, confident and conscious of their wellbeing.
Happy Women’s Month to all the phenomenal women of South Africa and beyond.
