EXERCISE ONCOLOGY — NOW PART OF OUR PRACTICE
A cancer diagnosis can change so much about your life. But movement doesn't have to stop.
At Smal Biokineticist, we are expanding our services to include a specialised focus on Exercise Oncology!
Exercise Oncology involves the individualised prescription and supervision of exercise for people affected by cancer, taking into consideration their diagnosis, treatment, symptoms, physical capacity and goals.
Research continues to show that appropriately prescribed exercise can play an important role in helping people:
🏃♀️ Manage cancer-related fatigue
💪 Maintain muscle strength and physical function
❤️ Support cardiovascular fitness
🧠 Improve mood and overall wellbeing
🦴 Maintain bone and physical health
🌱 Regain confidence in their bodies
🔄 Return to everyday activities and exercise after treatment
Exercise is not a replacement for cancer treatment. Rather, it can form an important part of supportive care alongside your oncology team. And this is something that has become especially meaningful to me personally.
I never expected cancer to become part of my own story. After being diagnosed with melanoma and beginning my own treatment journey, I found myself looking at Exercise Oncology not only as a professional field — but from the patient's perspective too.
That experience has strengthened my passion for helping others understand:
“What CAN I safely do?”
rather than simply being told:
“Just rest.”
Our existing Biokinetic services will continue as normal, with Exercise Oncology now being added as a specialised area of focus from October 2026.
If you or someone you love is living with cancer, going through treatment, or rebuilding strength after treatment, we'd love to help you move forward — safely, appropriately and at your own pace.
