How do we move through the seasons of life with clarity, vitality, and grace?

Whether it is walking our beautiful cliff path, swimming in the ocean or having the freedom to play and dance with the elements, our capacity to enjoy life is rooted in the simple, fundamental ways we use our bodies.

I invite you to join me on Saturday mornings at ProActive Fitness Wellness Studio for Therapeutic QiGong and Taiji. Over the next month, we are returning to the foundations—making this the perfect window for absolute beginners to step into the practice.

These traditions have been honed over millennia of dedicated study. They are not merely exercises, but a sophisticated, time-tested approach to understanding how the human frame is naturally designed to stand, move, and breathe optimally. We are simply revisiting the vital skills of more fully inhabiting the graceful capacity of the human form.

A core focus of my approach is the concept of Song - that state of resonantly strung, responsive tensegrity. It is the practice of finding embodied coherence; moving in a way where the body is neither rigid nor collapsed, but fluid, alive, and unified.

I approach this work with profound humility and reverence for the practice. It is a subtle, steady path toward restoring health and building the kind of robust vitality that supports us for a lifetime.

Classes are R100 (cash) and no gym membership is required. A complimentary free trial class is yours to claim if you wish.

I’d also love to connect before you join. If you are feeling curious and called to embark on this journey together, I welcome you to reach out to me personally via WhatsApp on 082 788 3217. Please feel free to send a voice note telling me a little about your life and your aspirations for your health - I always appreciate learning about your specific needs so I can ensure the practice truly meets you where you are on your journey.

Warm and sincere regards,
James

❄️ Hello Hermanus. 🌊🐋

I’m launching a new, five-part series at YogaHeart this Thursday, beginning with the Element of Water—the foundation of our vital essence.

The studio is kept warm, and our practice is calibrated to support you as we approach the winter solstice this Sunday. We are working specifically with the interplay of Fire and Water; when our internal Water energy freezes from lack of movement, we may become rigid and fearful. Conversely, when we are in a state of chronic stress, our Water boils continuously, leading to the burnout so common in modern life. We will use this practice to restore a healthy, balanced state of flow.

Why Water? In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Kidney and Bladder meridians govern our "source energy" reserves. When we live in a state of hyper-aroused depletion, it often manifests as lower back pain, tight hamstrings, or chronic adrenal fatigue.

By utilizing the slow-motion intensity of Yin Yoga, we will map the Superficial Back and the Deep Front Myofascial Lines (SBL & DFL). Using props—blocks, bolsters, and warm blankets—we create a stable environment where somatic contractions can safely unwind.

We will then weave in QiGong. Once the Yin practice has "opened the gates" of the subtle body, we use rhythmic movement to circulate energy, nourish the Mingmen (Gate of Life), and replenish the Jing (Vital Essence) reservoir.

The Five-Part Arc:
While each class is a powerful standalone experience, I have designed this as a five-part series.

Committing to the full arc allows for a cumulative, deep-listening practice that profoundly supports embodied wholeness.

If you are keen to undertake this journey, please be aware that spaces are filling up and only a handful remain for this series launch.

Where: YogaHeart, 7 Village Lane, Hemel en Aarde
When: 18/06/2026, 17h30 – 18h45
Booking: Please secure your mat via the OCTIV APP.

If you have questions or wish to discuss the practice, please reach out to me directly on WhatsApp at 082 788 3217.

Thank you.

Warm regards,

🔥 Hello HERMANUS FRIENDS! ❤️

I'm extending a heartfelt invitation to the launch of a Thursday class at Pauline's beautiful new YogaHeart studio in the Hemel en Aarde Village.

Many of you know my passion for QiGong and Strong Functional Yoga, but over the last few years, I’ve been complimenting my personal QiGong practice with the profound release of YinYoga.

I’ve grown to appreciate that skillful use of trauma-informed Yin is a potent therapeutic portal - it works deeply on the nervous system, maps the fascia, organs and meridians, essentially facilitating opening up the subtle body gates, allowing QiGong's silky-smooth movements to circulate energy more efficiently and powerfully.

We’re kicking off our first session this Thursday with a special Five Elements theme - a uniquely sequenced, scaffolded and supportive alchemical journey!

Whether you're brand new to the practice, feeling skeptical or just keen for fresh inspiration - this is the perfect time to join.

The larger arc of these Thursday classes will be a sumptuous, sinuous, slow-motion visceral dive into breathwork, somatics and emotional granularity, whilst exploring the rich psycho-poetic terrain of both Yogic and Daoist philosophy.

So, if you’re looking to add something soulful to your weekly routine, I’d love to share the healing practice of YinYoga & QiGong with you!

Looking forward to welcoming you to an authentically co-creative cozy vibe in my thermal jammies!

Where: YogaHeart, 7 Village Lane, Hemel en Aarde
When: Thursdays 17h30 - 18h45
Bookings: Please secure your mat via the Octiv App.

P.S. Spoiler alert - Yin isn't about how far you go into the stretch but rather, it's the quality of being-with that slow, tender felt-sense of unwinding. It's about fully resourcing ourselves (blocks, bolsters and warm blankets) to create the spacious, compassionate internal environment necessary for your core somatic contractions to safely let go. It's a dedicated practice of radical deep listening. Ultimately, the goal isn't to be perfect but rather, to become whole.
