If a bubble bath, or hair wash, brings tears to your eyes, there’s no need for concern! While the burning or stinging sensation brought on by contact with soapy bubbles may feel like it’s doing damage, the discomfort is temporary.

Most soaps, shampoos and bubble baths have a higher alkaline pH than the neutral pH of your eyes which can trigger a burning sensation, while foaming agents can cause irritation to the sensitive surfaces of the eye. For relief, rinse eyes with clean water and rebuild the tear layer with a drop of artificial tear solution.

If, however, you’re experiencing any discomfort with your eyes or vision that is not _bubble related_, it may be time for a “No Rush” eye exam with Rod Hastie - Howick Optometrist!
