Healthy habits don’t happen by accident. They happen by design.

Good nutrition during pregnancy is about much more than calories. It’s one of the simplest ways to support your own health while giving your baby the best possible start.

As obstetricians, we often spend time discussing scans, blood tests and labour. But some of the most important conversations happen around everyday choices—what you eat, how you hydrate, and how you care for yourself between appointments.

There is no perfect pregnancy diet. There is only a pattern of healthy decisions, repeated over time.

That’s why I encourage my patients to focus on balance rather than perfection. Build each meal around nutritious foods, stay well hydrated, and don’t hesitate to ask for help if nausea, diabetes, food aversions or other medical conditions make eating well more difficult.

Pregnancy isn’t about getting everything right. It’s about making informed choices, supported by a team that knows you.

Healthy mothers build healthy babies, one meal at a time.

High blood pressure in pregnancy needs respect.

It can rise before a woman feels unwell.

That is why routine visits, blood pressure checks and clear follow-up are not optional.

One reading can change the pathway.

Review.

Repeat checks.

Blood tests.

Closer monitoring.

Delivery timing when needed.

The risk is not only in the number.
