On May 2nd, 2026, a 5-year-old girl choked on a chicken nugget, resulting in a partial airway obstruction.
I pushed the valve down and pulled up quickly. She coughed, and I watched the little ball come flying out. I knew we were in the clear. was the LifeVac, which happened to be sitting next to me.

Sometimes, they’re already in your home.

And when prevention fails, being prepared matters just as much.
Small toys, loose parts, batteries, beads, coins — everyday items that can quickly become life-threatening, especially for young children.

As parents, we do our best — but awareness is everything.
Take a moment to look at what your child plays with:
• Are there small detachable parts?
• Is it age-appropriate?
• Could it fit through a choke test cylinder (roughly the size of a toilet roll core)?

We share a mother’s story from the UK — a moment no parent ever expects.
