At 89 she posted her CV to a design consultancy by ordinary mail. A week later they rang, and she walked into a room of 35 engineers and was offered a fellowship on the spot. Barbara Beskind is now over 100 and still designing.

Our residents came away from Mandela Day with a new skill and a few new friends. 💛

We spent the day with the students from St Vincent School for the Deaf, who brought along their artwork, shared the stories behind each piece, and then taught our residents to sign. They were seriously talented, and wonderfully patient, teachers.

Our San Sereno community also donated groceries and school supplies to the school. It was a meaningful way to mark Mandela Day and celebrate the incredible young people who spent it with us.

Such a fun afternoon at San Sereno as our residents put on their detective hats 🕵️‍♀️

Together, they uncovered the clues behind falls, memory changes, balance issues and other common aspects of ageing, separating fact from fiction along the way. There was plenty of laughter, great conversation and a few surprises too.
