💛 The greatest reward is hearing that both mom and baby are doing well.

“Thank you so much for everything you did. You made the journey so much easier for me. We are recovering well, and baby is growing beautifully.”

Receiving messages like these reminds us why we do what we do. It was an absolute privilege to walk alongside this beautiful family as they welcomed their little one by caesarean birth at Oxford Midwifery Unit.

Wishing you continued healing, precious moments, and many happy milestones as your little one grows. Thank you for allowing M&V Midwives to be part of your journey. 💛

Did you know?

The days after birth bring one of the biggest hormonal changes your body will ever experience. As hormone levels rapidly adjust, you’re also recovering from birth, learning your baby’s cues, and adapting to life with a newborn.

It’s completely normal to experience a wide range of emotions during the early postpartum period. Recovery takes time, and every mother’s journey is different.

At M&V Midwives, we’re here to support you not only through pregnancy and birth, but also during those precious first weeks after your baby arrives. You’re never alone on this journey.

Be kind to yourself. Rest when you can, accept support when it’s offered, and remember that caring for yourself is just as important as caring for your baby.

💛 You are doing better than you think.

🤍 One Contraction Closer 🤍

Every contraction has a purpose.

It isn’t your body working against you. It’s your uterus doing exactly what it was designed to do, gently opening the cervix and guiding your baby closer to your arms.

When a contraction comes, try not to fight it. Breathe through it, relax your body, and let it work with you. Each wave has a beginning, a peak, and an end, bringing you one step closer to meeting your baby.

Trust your body. Trust your baby. Together, you were made for this.

Every mother returns from birth changed.

Whether you believe the old midwives’ tale or simply see it as a beautiful way to describe the journey, there’s no denying that something profound happens in those first moments. A woman becomes a mother, a baby takes their first breath, and a love unlike any other begins.

It’s a transformation that words can never fully explain, only witness.

To every mother who has made this incredible journey, we see your strength, your courage, and the love that brought your baby safely into your arms.

💙 Preparing for something truly special.

Before every water birth, there’s careful preparation behind the scenes. Elizabeth ensures every detail is ready, creating a calm, safe, and welcoming space for families to welcome their little one.

This month, we had the privilege of supporting two beautiful water births at Lakewood Medical Centre. Watching babies enter the world gently into warm water is always a reminder of just how incredible birth can be.

Every birth is unique, and every one is an honour to be part of.

🤍 Client Review 🤍

“Not just a midwife.

By far the best midwife ever, whose compassion and love touched me deeply. I can never find the words to truly describe my appreciation for Sister.”

Reviews like this remind us that midwifery is so much more than delivering babies. It’s about walking beside families, offering reassurance, compassion, and unwavering support through one of life’s most important journeys.

To our wonderful client, thank you for your beautiful words. It was an absolute privilege to be part of your story. 🤍

👶✨ Baby’s First P**p (Meconium): What to Expect ✨👶

Your newborn’s very first p**p is called meconium — a thick, sticky, dark green or almost black stool. It’s completely normal and a sign that your baby’s digestive system is working just as it should.

Meconium is made up of everything your baby swallowed in the womb — amniotic fluid, skin cells, and more. Most babies pass it within the first 24–48 hours after birth.

As feedings get established, their p**p will gradually change in color and texture — becoming lighter, softer, and more familiar. 💛

If your baby hasn’t passed meconium within the first two days, it’s always best to chat with your midwife or healthcare provider.

Early days come with lots of questions — and we’re here to guide you through every one. 🤍
