A sad loss in our midwiffery family, we will always remember what you did for independent midwifery in South Africa, and carry your calm, kind presence in our hearts!

There are no words that truly capture the sadness of saying goodbye to someone who meant so much.

My heart is heavy as I reflect on the loss of Marilyn Sher, the “M” in M&V Midwives. For so many years she was not only my colleague, mentor, and friend, but someone I admired deeply and learned so much from.

Mother, Grandmother, Midwife, Mentor, Friend.

Marilyn was a remarkable woman whose kindness, strength, wisdom, and passion for midwifery touched countless lives. She dedicated more than 50 years to caring for women and babies, walking alongside families during some of the most important moments of their lives.

She believed deeply that women deserved to birth with dignity, respect, and choice. She championed independent midwifery, shared her knowledge generously, and inspired generations of midwives fortunate enough to learn from her.

What I admired most was her passion. Even after decades in midwifery, her love for birth never faded. Midwifery was never simply a profession to Marilyn, it was her calling.

Her gentle wisdom, calm presence, and unwavering faith touched more lives than she will ever know. The families she cared for, the babies she welcomed, and the midwives she mentored will continue to carry her legacy forward.

Thank you, Marilyn, for everything you gave to this profession, to the families you served, and to those of us privileged enough to call you our friend.

You will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.

With love, gratitude, and a broken heart,

Veronica 🤍

Happy international midwife day to all my fellow colleagues, keep doing what you are doing, it is not always easy, the sacrifices we have to make, and sometimes missing personal moments with your own family but you are making a difference to others, one birth at a time! I am proud to be part of the PPMA sisterhood!

Genesis got their licence!

We are so excited to announce that the Department of Health has signed off on our license, and we are opening our doors on Monday. 🌀

We are so grateful for the incredible support that we have received from the community during this waiting period. While the delays were long, your patience and encouragement reminded us every day why we do what we do.

Genesis was built to be a place of care and connection for your families, and it finally feels complete now that we can welcome you back inside. 🤍
