For some contact lens wearers, the decision to explore vision correction starts when daily lens wear becomes less comfortable or less convenient. A 3-year study comparing patients who chose LASIK after contact lens wear with those who continued wearing contact lenses found higher satisfaction in the LASIK group. The study reported that:
👁 88% of patients who had LASIK after contact lenses said they would recommend LASIK
👁 54% of patients who continued contact lens wear said they would recommend contact lenses

Possible reasons for the difference included reduced daily maintenance, greater convenience, stable visual performance and less ongoing irritation.

This does not mean LASIK is right for everyone. Glasses remain a safe, non-procedural option, and contact lenses remain useful when they are comfortable and safely managed. Suitability for LASIK, PRK or other vision correction options must be assessed during a consultation.

Yes, it can, depending on the lens option that's right for you.
During cataract surgery, your cloudy natural lens is replaced with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). If you have astigmatism, your surgeon may recommend a toric lens, which is designed to correct astigmatism during the same procedure.

🌀 What is astigmatism?
Astigmatism is caused by an irregular curvature of the cornea, which can result in blurred or distorted vision.

🔧 How do toric lenses help?
Toric lenses are specially designed to compensate for this irregular shape. They are carefully aligned during surgery to improve visual clarity.
Not everyone with astigmatism needs a toric lens. Your surgeon will assess your eye measurements, lifestyle and visual goals before recommending the most suitable lens option.

✨ Did you know?
Cataract surgery can do more than remove a cloudy lens. Depending on the lens selected, it may also reduce astigmatism. If you choose multifocal lenses you may also decrease your dependence on spectacles.
