📚 "She'll do anything to avoid reading."

Avoiding reading isn't always laziness. For many learners, reading feels exhausting, frustrating, or overwhelming because of underlying difficulties with decoding, fluency, or comprehension.

When reading becomes easier, confidence often follows.

✨ Every child deserves the opportunity to experience the joy of reading.

🍎 Teacher Tip Tuesday

A learner who works slowly isn't necessarily struggling to understand the work.

For many learners, the challenge lies in processing information efficiently, not in their ability to learn.

Simple classroom accommodations can reduce frustration, build confidence, and allow learners to demonstrate what they truly know.

Remember: Accommodations don't give learners an unfair advantage—they provide equitable access to learning.

💚 Understanding potential. Building futures.

📝 "I literally just told him what to do!"

For some learners, forgetting instructions isn't about not listening. It may reflect difficulties with working memory, attention, or language processing.

Understanding the difference helps us replace frustration with effective support.

💚 Sometimes, it's not that they weren't listening—they simply couldn't hold onto the information.

✍️ "But she can explain it perfectly!"

Many learners are able to express their ideas confidently in conversation but struggle to organise and communicate those same ideas in writing.

Written expression is a complex skill that relies on much more than neat handwriting. It involves planning, organising thoughts, retrieving vocabulary, spelling, grammar, working memory, processing speed, and fine motor skills—all working together at the same time.

When a learner's written work doesn't reflect what they know, it's worth asking "Why?" rather than assuming they aren't trying.

Understanding the underlying reason allows us to provide meaningful support and practical recommendations that help learners demonstrate their true potential.

💚 Behind every struggle is a learner with unique strengths. Sometimes, understanding why is the first step towards helping them thrive.

⏰ "She knows the work... but never finishes the test."

Not finishing isn't always about poor preparation. Some learners need more time because of slower processing speed, reading difficulties, attention challenges, or anxiety.

Looking beyond the unfinished paper helps us understand what support a learner may truly need.

✨ Every unfinished test has a story. Let's discover the reason behind it.
