When someone is caught in the storm, that is not the time to explain the weather… this is not the time to ask “why didn’t you bring an umbrella?” because in this moment they
don’t need a forecast… they need help.
They need someone to walk over to them… they need to know they’re not alone, that someone cares enough
to help them.
They need someone who opens their umbrella and says “I’m here to help you. Let’s get to safety.”
You can talk about umbrellas another time… but in the middle of the storm? What they need most is company, not commentary. All they need is someone who refuses to leave them in the rain.
Sometimes the best thing you can do for someone who is struggling isn’t give them advice.
It’s showing up.
It’s sitting beside them when they don’t know what to say.
Checking in even when they’ve gone quiet. Listening without judgment. Reminding them they don’t have to figure everything out right now.
You don’t always need the perfect words to help someone through a hard time.
Sometimes you just need to open your umbrella and stand in the rain with them.
Be that someone. ☔️❤️
