⚠️ Corn plasters can do more harm than good

Many corn plasters contain **salicylic acid**, which is designed to break down the thickened skin of a corn. The problem is that it can also irritate or damage the **healthy skin surrounding the corn**.

In this case, the plaster caused significant skin irritation, while the underlying pressure causing the corn remained.

πŸ‘£ **The important point:** treating the corn alone may not solve the problem. Footwear, pressure and the underlying cause should also be assessed.

**If you have diabetes, reduced sensation or poor circulation, do not self-treat corns with acid-based products without professional advice.**

If you have a painful or persistent corn, have it properly assessed by a podiatrist.

πŸ‘£ Tiny Piece. Big Problem.

A very small piece of fine metal had become embedded in the bottom of the foot and needed to be carefully removed.

Small foreign bodies can be easy to overlook, particularly when the entry point is tiny. Inspect your feet regularly, especially after walking barefoot, working around metal, or stepping on something sharp.

If you have ongoing pain, tenderness, swelling, redness, or feel that something may still be lodged in your foot, get it assessed by a medical professional.

πŸ‘£ Don’t ignore your feet - even a tiny foreign body can cause a problem.

Are your feet trying to tell you something? Swipe through to identify common issues and what causes them. ➑️🦢

Foot pain, nail changes, and skin irritation are rarely "just minor annoyances"- they are usually signs of underlying pressure points, biomechanical issues, or conditions that need targeted care:

πŸ₯Ώ Image 1: Shoe fit, bunions, hammertoes & recurring corns/calluses

🦢 Image 2: Ball-of-foot/arch pain & hidden nail changes

⚑ Image 3: Sharp morning heel pain (Plantar Fasciitis) & ingrown toenails

🧴 Image 4: Deep cracked heels & persistent fungal infections (Athlete's Foot)

Ignoring small symptoms often leads to bigger discomfort down the road. An early professional assessment helps identify the root cause and gets you back on your feet quickly.

Struggling with dry, cracked heels or persistent nail discoloration? 🦢

Seasonal changes and closed footwear take a heavy toll on skin and nail health.
What starts as mild heel dryness can progress into painful deep cracks, while persistent itchy skin between toes or thickened nails often indicate a fungal infection that won't go away without targeted treatment.

Restore your skin and nail health with specialized, professional care.

Sharp heel pain with your first steps in the morning?
Or a tender, painful toe every time you put on shoes? 🦢

Morning heel pain (Plantar Fasciitis) and ingrown toenails are two of the most common conditions we treat at Fix My Feet Podiatry. Left unmanaged, minor strain and inflammation can quickly progress into severe pain or infection.

An early assessment helps identify the cause and gets you back on your feet quickly.

Foot pain isn't always in your heel. 🦢

Discomfort in the ball of your foot, arch, or toe joints can quietly disrupt your daily routine and activity. Similarly, changes in your toenails - whether from pressure, trauma, or underlying conditions - shouldn't be dismissed as purely cosmetic.

Professional care helps pinpoint mechanical issues and restores your foot and nail health before minor discomfort turns into a long-term problem.

Are your shoes quietly changing the shape of your feet? 🦢

Tight or unsupportive footwear can gradually alter your foot structure, leading to bunions, toe crowding, and hammertoes.

Likewise, persistent corns and calluses are often caused by underlying pressure pointsβ€”meaning simply removing hard skin only offers temporary relief.

An early assessment helps identify the root cause, correct pressure points, and keep you moving comfortably.

Heel pain that just won't go away? It could be plantar fasciitis.

Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of persistent heel pain, often causing a sharp pain under the heel when you take your first steps in the morning or after sitting for a while.

In this video, I'm treating a patient with **Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT)** - a proven treatment option for chronic plantar fasciitis.

Shockwave therapy isn't an instant fix. It works by stimulating your body's natural healing response, helping chronic, slow-to-heal tissue recover. The best results are achieved over a series of treatments and when combined with the correct footwear, activity modification, and addressing the underlying cause of the problem.

If you've been living with heel pain for weeks or months and nothing seems to be helping, it may be time for an assessment.

🚨 What started as a simple ingrown toenail became a painful infection because treatment was delayed.

Many people try to manage these conditions themselves or hope they will improve with time. Unfortunately, foot problems often progress when the underlying cause is not addressed.

The lesson? Don't wait for a small problem to become a big problem.

Whether it's an ingrown toenail, heel pain, a wart, or another foot condition, early assessment and treatment can often lead to a quicker recovery, less discomfort, and better outcomes.

If you have a foot problem that isn't improving, don't ignore it - have it assessed before it progresses.

Ingrown toenail pain? Red, swollen, or painful when walking?

You don’t need to β€œlive with it” or keep managing it at home.

We treat ingrown toenails in clinic - from conservative treatment right through to long-term solutions.
When required, we perform a nail wedge resection or partial nail avulsion to remove the problem portion of the nail and significantly reduce recurrence.

Fast relief. Proper treatment. Long-term results.
